Arc of Infinity is over. Michael Gough was good. Colin was very subdued (as the request of the director, I think I read?). Now on to Snakedance which I only remember not liking as a kid - or was that Kinda? I don't remember exactly, but I wasn't a fan of either I think.
don't think either Kinda or Snakedance are stories that would have appealed to younger audiences.
Snakedance was also the first tv role for Martin Clunes who would go on to do many many tv shows etc with better performances.
Given that they were filming outdoors in October, they were probably thinking that the extras needed to keep warm.
Jackets and coats seemed fine for everyone else. Looked out of place in a contemporary setting.
Military uniforms often maintain traditional elements after they've gone out of fashion elsewhere. It's possible that capes were still part of the uniform code at the time.
Besides, capes are cool. They've got class. I don't understand why people scoff at them.
My impression was the prison was civilian The guy in charge wore a business suit and just a pin to indicate his association.
Nothing wrong with a cape. Just an odd accessory for the time period. Looks more are home in one of Who's future settings
I am 1 episode in and have no memory of Snakedance [of watching it previously as a kid on PBS]. It's definitely Kinda that I didn't like as a kid. Probably the dream sequences Tegan had that did it in for me. Snakedance is... interesting so far I guess.
Well, the location used for the prison was a castle on the Isle of Wight. To me, "a castle on the Isle of Wight" sounds like a place where capes would be totally at home.
Not sure prisons go for thematic guard uniforms based on location.
