Last Classic Who Story you watched

Just on guns Dr Who is the only show I know of where if you do get shot with a gun you die but there is zero blood

Tell that to Condo from the Fourth Doctor story The Brain of Morbius

Yes but was it human blood?

I think aliens bleeding is OK just not humans..

BTW I do wonder why can't we see the War Machines in New Who? At least they'd be able to make them convincing with effects now....

Personally, "Destiny of the Daleks" is my least favorite Tom Baker story.
Have you ever seen Underworld?

I have. (In fact, I've seen every single surviving classic episode except for "The Underwater Menace, Part 2." Although, there are some that I haven't watched in over a decade, like the Key to Time arc.)

I'll admit that "Underworld" is pretty dire and the CSO looks pretty bad in places. But it still has more energy and better production design than "Destiny of the Daleks." Plus, Leela makes everything better.

Doctor Who Revisited: Vengeance On Varos

Like I said in the Colin Baker thread, it'sa rather dated studio based story. The concept of it being a satire on ratings still kind of works though. but the plight of the Varosians are rather overlooked.

Remembrance Of The Daleks

It's still a classic story, Jasime Breaks is very creepy as the girl, Micheal Sheard gives the show his last proformance and it's rather cool seing teh Special Weapons Dalek in action. I do like how the Doctor tricks Davros, although Skaro doesn't stay destroyed for long. Another gem of a scene is the Doctor's little talk with Joseph Marcell about changing time and making decisions. This story also marks the first time Doctor Who was broadcast in stereo.

I just finished rewatching terror of the vervoids. it was much better the second time around. mel is still annoying but besides a few screaming scenes she's not as bad as she would be later. The vervoids weren't the best design, but classic Doctor Who had much worse designs.

honestly the trial scenes were probably the most boring part of the episode. The Valyard and the doctor work well together but by this story it's just getting repetitive and it shows. still this holds up better than I thought and I would watch it again. I think when I watched it the first time I was burned out with trial of a Time Lord a bit, especially after the lame ending of the previous story. watching it now this is definitely a better episode than I gave it credit for. It's still not more than just okay, but its worth watching.

I've only seen Vervoids once (a few months ago). I don't remember it being painfully bad like some of the episodes of that era. It's got a relatively straightforward plot (which is good, so many of them have 9 different things going on with random subplots stuck in and dropped just as quickly). The Doctor is actually Doctor-like in it. And I don't remember a whole lot of Huuuhhhhh?! moments (or moments when I'm shouting at the TV and fighting not to turn it off because of stupidity).

I'd say it holds up with the late Leela/early Roman era of the 4th Doctor.

I just finished rewatching the ultimate foe it's still a decent story, although I wish we'd seen Robert Holmes ending to the story. it was probably a good idea to ended the way they did, I don't think leaving a possibility that the doctor died would have been a good idea. it sucks that this was Colin bakers last story but it could have been worse.

Earthshock on the Cybermen special DVD.

Unlike on the revisited DVD the story is in it's original format. And I really liked teh Cybermen origins special that Dan Sharkly, i loved the montagges of the stories over the years. The Cybermen are part of what's the show so special and have played a huge part of the show's history, it's a shame that Jon Pertwee didn't get his own Cybermen storyline and really Earthshock is one the best of the Cybermen stories.

Working on "The Silurians." Pertwee grows on me with repeated viewings. I really like the chemistry with Jo Grant, but even his interplay with Liz Shaw is very good.

Meanwhile, the weekend rotation is in the middle of "Seeds of Doomm" so getting ready to say goodbye to the original TARDIS prop (and Sara Jane Smith a few stories later). It will be interesting to see when the weekdays "laps" weekends.

When it comes to wigs, Paul McGann, and Ellen Hamilton Latzen from 1989's Christmas Vacation, had the same problem - their pixie haircuts didn't fit how the filmmakers envisioned their characters. For Latzen it was the second time that a set of filmmakers thought she didn't look girly enough for the character - see her episode of Family Ties where they put her in a lacy dress and stuck a flower in her pixie cut.

I rewatched Attack of the Cybermen. Its still a very good serial. The cybermen are used well, and it was interesting to see Telos again. It has some pretty intense scenes, which I don't think is a negative for the story. I still enjoy the Classic Who Cybermen designs, I wish the NuWho Cybermen got a bit more influence from the design. Overall, this is still an enjoyable 6th Doctor serial.

So i'm TRYING to get through Planet of Fire. Anyone else find this an editor's nightmare?! Ok we're on Sarn, oh wait there's Peri on earth I guess on some expedition, hang on Kamelion's having issues and...oh there's the master doing...wait this is Sarn again...are we on Sarn now? Now there's Turlough in bathing trunks (shiver) on the beach...and suddenly we're in the Tardis...when did that happen? The Master, I mean Kamelion, is killing the Doctor, or are the natives killing the doctor, who's the god they're searching for? I'm lost!....Sheesh I can't keep track of this mess.

Concur. Godawful and bewildering. Shout at the TV bad. And the sad thing is, it gets worse. It's like the "Office Space" era of "Dr. Who"--"Every episode is the worst episode ever."

There's alot going on in Planet Of Fire, but I've never hada problem following the story, I think it's an excellent story.

I'll admit it begins falling into place halfway through, but oh man that first half is rough. I was watching the version with the cgi effects and the intro with the director saying that this is the version she wanted. If I were her, I would have re-edited that whole story to make the three threads - Kamelion/Master, Logar/Sarn/chosen one-thing & Peri's rescue/Doctor & Turlough - flow a little more coherently.

to be fair, Caves of Androzani follow this, so not EVERY story is worse than the last.

I just rewatched The Five Doctors, and its still a great story, probably my favorite of the few 5th Doctor serials I've seen. The only problem (besides no Toim Baker, which wasn't the fault of the people making the show) was that the 5th Doctor barely interacts with his old selves, and spends most of his time not doing very much. I mean, he finds the traitor, but thats about it until the very end. Still, the story overall is good, its great to see the old Doctors and returning companions, and Hartnell's replacement was probably as good as anyone could have been when it comes to replacing the 1st Doctor.

Its really, really long, with rather dull direction and almost non-existent character interactions. The best parts of it are the Second-Brigadier and Third-Sarah sequences, which are on their own rather fun.

Easily the most disappointing of the live-action multi-Doctor stories.
