No Offence. British police drama. Mostly female leads. Barely any men. A lot of grisly stuff going on as a sexual predator is murdering down syndrome girls, so he has to be caught.
The 100. CW shit, but two teenage girl generals ordering fully grown men to die for them. They all needed a good slapping in season one, but the writers room really tied season two together.
Sanctuary. Amanda Tapping from Stargate as an Immortal vampire Hybrid running a Zoo for mystical creatures.
Mysteries of Laura. No seriously, its like if Danny DiVito was leaking a gravy sandwich all over his white shirt, but it's Grace from Will and Grace. The police stuff is amateur hour, but the interpersonal back and forth is quite rewarding.
Lizzie Borden Chronicles. I found this unwatchable, but Greg Cox kept a successful thread about the ongoing series alive. It seems like 5 minutes ago that little Wednesday Addams was joining the cast of Ally McBeal and...
Bitten. I think it's shit. But I could be wrong. obviously a strong female character, but unfortunately on an unwatchable piece of shit series about werewolves.
Reign. Wall to wall vage. And all the men are effete boys who're pushed around by these clever women in amazing gowns. It's good, very good, but then I've been drawn to one of the actresses since Anne of Green Gables in the 80s, so maybe I'm biased.
Unreal. if you want a story about hard women in a lite setting, this show is amazing. Constance Zimmer is producing a reality show going off the rails, and when Shiri Appleby (from Rosewell) digs her heels in to avoid launching off another cliff, worlds explod... There's this scene where Shiri wakes up, takes her underwear off (not panties, actual underwear) sniffs them, thinks about it, turns them inside out, and puts the same inside-out underwear back on again. #Not a ####ing princess.
Jessica Jones. Even ####ing Doctor fucking Who doesn't stand a chance. (David Tennant is the baddie.).
Orphan Black. The first rule about Clone Club, is that we don't talk about Clone club. How can this not be first on your list of kick ass female character? Characters. It's one actress playing almost a dozen different parts, and some of who are trying to kill the rest of herself.
Dark Matter and
Killjoys have very strong female presences. the team leaders in both cases are women. And y'know, spaceships.
I Zombie. Duuuuuuuude!
Agent Carter. Some very good moments, but season one as a whole, was shit.
South of Hell. Meh? Strong woman possessed by Strong Demon, Mena Suvari playing both parts. Not entirely a fan, but it was a nice try.
Person of Interest. This completely started as a boys club, even though Cookie from Empire was there for the first 3 seasons. Although if you want scary violent and and a little damaged, go no further than Shaw and Root, who if I have my way are finally going to deal with this 'I love you' shit they were tap dancing around last year. Fred from Angel/Buffy as a gun toting hacker sociopath? Neither is the lead, but still excellent.
Stitchers. Blunt autistic girl talks to the dead with technology to solve murders. Pretty like Buffy, but abrasiveness like Bones. Derivative plot, but this I do like.
The Good Witch. It's like they knew how bad this show was going to be so they cast the most beautiful woman in the world. Hallmark crap but, she's so, well, she's so pretty that Catherine Bell almost made me watch Jag. Almost. That's like impossibly pretty. How the #### did Jag last 10 years? Catherine Bell is how.
