And just because a baby with a pointed ear is too cute for words... Aww. I want a director's cut. You got to admit that the kiddie Spock scenes beat the kiddie Kirk ones (granted, there are deleted scenes of both). I was actually impressed by Kogan.

aww, he's a cutie. I'm so waiting for him to be in the DVD. thanks for the pic! :)

^^ Yes! Do I sense an embryonic conversion?
The movie itself was structured in such a way to fool people into thinking Uhura was Kirk's love interest, with just little hints in a couple of Spock/Uhura scene. and then - bam! - comes the turbolift scene.
Technically, if he pines for her, isn't she his love interest?

And wouldn't that be facial hair on your avatar, only a millimeter shorter? :D

Very funny. Well that's not a real, Father Christmas type of beard. I'd drop Shia in a heartbeat if he started sporting something of the sort.
Neither does Karl. Look again. His is only 2 or 3 days longer than your beloved Shia's stubble.
But let's not split hairs over this.

DevilEyes, as much interest as I have in the romance, I don't think they will permit Spock and Uhura to continue as a romantic couple, so the point would be moot in that case. It doesn't make sense they would commit a dynamic character like Spock.

Zach has already said that his character was in a period before he found balance, so they may have told him something will happen to make him more like TOS Spock.

I agree they intended to draw in women by including Uhura in promotions with Spock and Kirk, but IMO women came to see the movie because of the males in it. They could have done as well by putting McCoy on the poster, but they probably wouldn't.
Zach has been saying that about Spock not having found his balance since 2007. There's no need to point out that nobody knew at the time if there would even be a sequel, let alone what would happen in it. I'm not sure that even the writers at this point have a clue what is going to happen, since they've just started writing the script.. let alone the actors. You don't need to be looking for clues in cast interviews, since there can be none.

It is a matter of a simple comparison between Spock in TOS and younger Spock in the movie. Why would you need to know anything about the sequel to realize that Spock in this movie is more angsty because he has not found a balance between emotion and logic?

Furthermore, finding a balance does not have to mean becoming exactly like Spock in TOS (who IMO was not much of an exemple of a balance, anyway... he just had more emotional control, but he was very much in denial about his emotions and his nature). And why would finding a balance between logic and emotion prevent having a relationship?

I don't think that Spock and Uhura will be a happy and regular couple, since that would be a) unrealistic, b) not very interesting... but I am sure that the pairing would continue in the sequels. Why would they even bother to introduce it otherwise? It's also one of the most controversial and most discussed things in the movie, it attracts a lot of attention, not to mention that it has quite a lot of fans. And it provides great storyline opportunities, as an interspecies/interracial relationship (especially now that Spock is a member of an 'endangered species'), not to mention the possibility of exploring both the comedic and the dramatic side of Spock's issues with emotions and humanity. It doesn't make any sense to just drop it and forget about it.

OTOH, I don't see them turning into the resident happy couple or getting married any time soon ;) I'd like to see some more light shed on their relationship even though it will be likely somewhat in the background, and I expect to see some tension and trouble.. maybe their relationship will be very tentative, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they broke up in the sequel, but with a hint that it may not be over.

I don't think he pines for her... Let's not exaggerate, yes, he was attracted to her, but it is Kirk we're talking about, he would be attracted to pretty much any good-looking female. It probably happens to him several times a week. She's hardly the love of his life, and I don't think he was even particularly hurt when he saw her with Spock. It seemed more of a surprise and curiosity than anything. Yes, he had his ego bruised a bit, anyone would, but he seemed to get over it immediately. (Another proof that Kirk is not Shatner, after all.)

If Shia let his hair grow he'd look completely stupid.

And stop picking on me because of my love for him. :D :D
I'm not picking on him. I have no idea who it is. I teased you because you were being picky about Karl's hair and stubble length. ;) And I admit being picky about men's hair length myself in many instances.
I don't think he pines for her... Let's not exaggerate,

I think that was a wordplay on Chris Pine's name that Ria couldn't resist taking advantage of...
Thank you. ;) And sometimes I'm not sure exactly what English word to choose.
So, he what? Lusts for her? That would be more accurate.

^^ No, in France. But sometimes I'm in the moon... :adore:

I said "your beloved Shia" because I couldn't name someone I didn't know from Adam without some kind of introduction. Call me old fashioned. :D
Meh, that Karl Urban photo is weird. Don't like the hair.

I think he looks great in that pic. Amazing eyes. That short-haired pic, OTOH, is just creepy. What did they do to his eyes? He looks like an emo.
Black makeup on a man's eyes and a bit of eyebrow plucking doesn't necessarily look creepy.
