I really don't want a reset.

A lot of these characters have grown much that it seems horrible to take it all away from them.

So, what I think is that the scenes on the plane is the final outcome, as if the Island never happened. It is where the season will end.

But, what we are seeing on the Island is that the bomb just sent everyone back to the present, where things are still happening.

I think eventually something must happen between Jacob and the man in Black (aka John now), that causes the bomb to really work in the past, and eventually destroy the Island, and reset everything back to what we are seeing on the plane.

Confusing, and I'm probably wrong, but its just a theory.

It's a pretty good theory. Makes sense, considering the weird stuff that's happened before.

I think, ultimately, you are right. I doubt that the series will throw away five seasons of character development. Mayhap the plane scenes are what convince Jack that it's wrong to, simply, "reset."
