La-La Land DS9 music CD seems to be on the way

Fantastic news, especially the fact that Michael V. Gerhard considers DS9 to be the best of the new series.

Music from "Emissary" and "The Way of the Warrior" have been featured before, but I'd love to see stuff from the likes of "The Visitor", "What You Leave Behind", "The Siege of AR-558", "Our Man Bashir" and "Call to Arms". Snippets of the establishing music for the station itself in some episodes would also be a nice bonus.

Oh, that would be nice...do keep us posted if you get more news! I would definitely buy that CD if it came out; I've already got the old "Emissary" soundtrack from Crescendo.

Tracks from "The Visitor" are included on one of the "Best of..." CDs GNP Crescendo released a few years ago, alongside tracks from "Way of the Warrior."

That being said, I'm quite excited about the possibility of an actual DS9 album being released.

Wonderful news indeed!

If this is going to be a three-disc set similarly to the TNG one, I'd like to see one disc each for Dennis McCarthy, Jay Chattaway and David Bell.

There were not that many guest composers on DS9 (Richard Bellis, John Debney, Gregory Smith) to validate a fourth disc, and the regulars should be covered first.

As for Paul Baillargeon... Let's just say that I would hate for valuable disc space to go to waste.

^ He had his moments, and the final battle in The Siege of AR-558 is one of them. So are the last few seconds of The Muse, the destruction of the Valiant in Valiant (duh) and parts of Voyager's Blink of an Eye.

Mostly, however, his scores were messes that constantly veered off when they were getting close to resembling something melodic. See Shakaar, Little Green Men or Children of Time for reference.

Agreed, AR-558 has one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever composed. Cannot wait for this release. Hopefully it comes out this year.

I just watched "In the Cards", which has some fantastic music composed by David Bell. I hope we might get the Klingon opera song that was heard in the same episode.

^ I believe the same piece was first heard in Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places.

I wonder what the status of the DS9 soundtrack release is... Has anybody heard anything?

I haven't heard anything lately, but it's possible it's in the works.

The TNG 3-CD set that La La Land put out (limited to 3,000 copies) hasn't sold out yet, though. There doesn't seem to be as much demand for music from the TV shows compared to the movies.

Which is a shame. It's a lovely set, and lots of fun to listen to. I'm ever grateful that it was produced and released... I hope though the label will recoup its costs and will be able to turn a profit on that set.

As do I. I bought a copy of the set the first week it was released. It's a nice addition to my collection. :)
