Kylo Ren RUINED! [SPOILERS] HELP ME PLEASE

Anakin was removed from his mother and inducted into a cult at the age of 8. Then when he went back to find his mother it was to find her tortured and dying.

Kylo was raised by two loving parents.

Now I'm going to assume that Han Solo left both Kylo and Leia to go off and do cowboy things because Leia being a leader and all that was stifling his frontier ways. She says she sent him away to be trained, presumably Han had already taken off. Probably she didn't have enough time to give him the one on one attention he needed. Both Han and herself were very confident people, if he was socially challenged they may not have understood what his needs were since they did not relate to them personally.

I assumed Han left Leia after Ren succumbed to the Dark Side and slaughtered his classmates. Plenty of parents get divorced after a tragedy strikes their child and rips the family apart.

Reading over some of the posts, perhaps I need to rethink my harsh criticism to some extent of Ren. He did get shot, and he was bleeding. He was injured. Still though he just wasn't that impressive. I didn't like that Rey kicked his ass like that. It was too easy.

Was he supposed to be "that impressive?"

OH I know where you're coming from. I had these same feelings when Ren first removed his helmet. "That's the new Darth Vader? A wussy emo looking dude?" But the more I watched the character evolve, I got over it. He's not Vader. He's not got the maturity, the confidence or the skill level that Vader had. He's a wannabe. He's a pretender with delusions of grandeur.

I'm guessing you steered clear of information that leaked out before the film, such as this image, and also didn't hear about Driver's casting?

There was an article in a Starlog magazine years ago that speculated what Episodes I - III would be like. I wish I could find that article because those speculations were tons better than what we finally got...

Anyway, one of the points mentioned in that article was that Lucas was fond of the literary technique of using the first initial for characters linked together. He does it in a fair number of his movies.

Luke + Leia

Anakin + Amadala (In the article they called her Lady Arkady)

Now, if that pattern continues... we have Ren and Rey. Lends support to the idea that these two characters are, in some way, connected. Interesting...

Yep. I only saw the first 2 trailers. And read an article about BB-8.

Troops are expensive. Consoles are cheap.

Vader never cared he killed an admiral and a captain, Tarkin stopped from killing another officer. Kylo's tantrums were funny rather than scary.

Vader was also indisputably the "man in charge." Kylo had a much shorter leash.

I thought Kylo's level of authority in TFA was on par with Vader's in ANH.

Vader didn't start killing admirals left and right until ESB, when he was most definitely in charge. But in ANH, Vader gave a little choke with "The Force" to one of the Imperial officers, and let him go on Tarkin's demand. And Leia referred to Tarkin as "holding Vader's leash."

Maybe in "Episode VIII: The First Order Strikes Back," Kylo will have received more training from Snoke and also hold greater authority.
