Kyle in Zetar?

This may be impossible, and that's OK. I just finished rewatching The Lights of Zetar on DVD and saw John Winston listed in the credits as Lt. Kyle:

However, unless I was possessed by an alien lifeform during viewing and blacked out, Kyle never appeared in the episode. Does anyone know if his scenes were filmed but then dropped? It's not crucial - I'm not a big Kyleophile or anything - I'm just curious about the credits.

Wasn't he the transporter tech when the team beamed up, at first without Lt. Romaine? (She was beamed up shortly afterward.) My last REAL recollection of his visage was from ST:III with the goatee...but I think that was him about 22mins into the broadcast version of the TOS-R broadcast from last weekend.

"Something's interfering with her transporter signal...I have her coordinates, but she's suspended in transit!"

You know, the "zero gravity chamber" was dumb as hell 'cause it was supposed to be about oxygen pressure. Which has NOTHING to do with gravity.

I do believe Paul Sorvino (who played Worf's human stepbrother in TNG) has said his daughter (Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino) was named for the character of Mira Romaine.

Update: IMDB says she was born September 28, 1967, and Zetar first aired January 31, 1969... It'd be great, but the chronology looks a bit odd.

That does seem odd...perhaps Paul and Mira sort of contrived the story after the fact (he was said to be a huge fan of Trek and quite honored to be part of it).

Maybe in a way similar to the way Hillary Clinton claimed to be named for Sir Edmund Hillary even though she was born well before his famed trip to the top of Everest.

Someone once told me on the days when he wasn't acting in the 60s, John Winston was a Hollywood barber. Maybe he was the one the actors all went to for their Starfleet sideburns?

Actually I think he continued as a barber well into the 00s. I recall when I first joined this BBS back in 2001, that there was a guy who posted about going into a barbershop in L. A. and discovering Winston worked there. I recall that he even posted pics of the rather nice haircut Mr. Winston gave him. I do not recall the poster's handle.

EDIT: To add, until he sold his business and retired a couple years ago, Eddie "Mr. Leslie" Paskey ran a garage called, iirc, "The Air Shop." So, a truly obsessed fan could pop in for a haircut from Kyle, then run on down and have Mr. Leslie give 'em a tune-up.

This of course was years before resurrections became routine in Star Trek.

Of course Trek has nothing on StarGate when it comes to resurrections.

Yes -- Leslie had his hemoglobin sucked out of his body in Obsession, only to mysteriously appear in 18 more episodes, without any explanation as to his sudden "aliveness".

...And it wasn't the case as "same actor, different role" because he was mentioned by name in the episode in which he died, then was mentioned by name again at least one of the next 18 episodes in which he appeared.

There are a couple possible explanations:
1. McCoy managed to save him at the last second.
2. Wasn't he called "Connors" in Mudd's Women? Maybe Connors died and Leslie lived on.

And he doesn't beat Lt. Galloway who was mentioned by name in The Omega Glory and then vaporized, only to be resurrected in Turnabout Intruder and have his name published in the closing credits.
