Except he didn't. As Tuskin38 pointed out, they had virtually zero break between filming. So he had plenty of time to plan a tone change for season 3 during the filming of 2.
Again back to back doesn't mean what it sounds like. He literally had the entire production of season 2 to plan season 3 and totally change tones. They just didn't have every script for both season all locked in when season 2 started filming in February. Rewrites happen all the time. Season three is all Matalas. He was head showrunner for season 3.You’re right, there was a one day break between the two
It took seven months to produce season 2 correct? Where in that time frame could they not make decisions regarding the future of season 3?Except he didn't. As Tuskin38 pointed out, they had virtually zero break between filming.
Considering scenes for 3 were filmed during 2, along with sets like the Stargazer being built with the intention of being the Titan, I can't imagine they changed much. Which isn't even the debate at hand. Did Matalas make some changes? Sure? Probably? But he didn't do any of this in a vacuum. It took seven months to produce season 2 correct? Same reason superhero films end with a set up for something which often leads nowhere. So why end Picard with such an obv set up for a new show if it was never planned?
Kurtzman wasn't showrunner for Disco season one and two. He was co-showrunner for seasons 3 to 5.But things like the fun house turbolift interior, awful Klingon Redesign etc. They did do a few things I liked in those first two seasons but not much. Discovery finished strong though for Season 4 and Season 5.
That's right. It was Goldsman....right?Kurtzman wasn't showrunner for Disco season one and two. He was co-showrunner for seasons 3 to 5.
This is correct. Don't blame Alex Kurtzman for Bryan Fuller's fuckups.Kurtzman wasn't showrunner for Disco season one and two. He was co-showrunner for seasons 3 to 5.
Fuller first. Then Berg and Harberts, then Kurtzman and Paradise. That's right. It was Goldsman....right?

Do you not understand the difference of green lighting. show and a show in development?Kurtzman's previous statements were like he couldn't greenlight any new shows and getting Legacy into production was beyond his control.
Now they announce that a star trek live action comedy series is in development.
Its sounding more and more like Kurtzman felt threatened that Terry Matalas upstaged him and made sure Legacy didn't happen.
I just don't see how to move forward with him as the steward of the franchise knowing he may have stalled the project with the most fan enthusiasm.
I dunno, some of the hate directed at Berman and Braga, particularly Braga, was rather irrational. I remember one time, I tried pointing out Braga was not responsible for half of what he was blamed for, IE, he had nothing to do with Insurrection or Nemesis so it therefore made no sense to blame him for those movies. Someone actually replied to me with "that's like saying a serial killer is only guilty of killing ten out of the fifteen people he's accused of killing. He's still a heinous criminal."I remember the days of the Killer B's, but it was never this.... personal.
That's not my read of the situation, but I don't need to say anything because two people already said it for me. Quoting them below:Kurtzman's previous statements were like he couldn't greenlight any new shows and getting Legacy into production was beyond his control.

Academy and this comedy thing? Aimed at people who don't normally watch Star Trek. People who like teen drama and comedy. And they are the ones who will save Paramount.
Best wait until the final season of SNW for talk of another starship show.
That may be true, but there was another factor as well. It seems like Paramount also wanted a TNG Reunion. Quoting again what Patrick Stewart said in his book Making It So.Terry said Season 3 was based off an idea he's had for a long time for a TNG follow up.
