Kronos One

Well, for whatever it's worth, the novel A Singular Destiny by Keith R.A. DeCandido establishes that the Federation President's dedicated starship is called Paris One. We know that Chancellor Gowron used a ship called the I.K.S. Bortas. And in various novels, Chancellor Martok uses a Negh'Var-class starship called the I.K.S. Sword of Kahless.

So my theory is that Qo'noS One was not actually its name, but was, instead, the Federation designation for that ship -- paralleling their use of Paris One. No doubt Chancellor Gorkon would have used something suitably badass -- I.K.S. Blood of Molor or some such.

To be sure, it was Gorkon himself who first said "This is Kronos One. I am Chancellor Gorkon."!

Really? After their most hated tyrant? Isn't that a bit like Israel naming their latest naval vessel "The Blood of Adolf Hitler"?

Federation designation he was using for the sake of diplomacy. :bolian:

Sure, why not? After all, "Blood of Molor" means that his blood was spilled, by Kahless the Unforgettable. It's a way of saying, "the defeat of Molor."

I just wish the new Klingon ship had been something other than another Bird of Prey. A new design D-8, D-9, or D-10 Fed designation and "whatever the Klingons call it."
