I liked Season 2 the best. Then 3 and 1. Sad to say I've watched 4 episodes of Season 4 and I've just sort of unofficially abandoned it... Maybe I'll come back to it later this year when the Season is all released, but it just seemed to be loading and not going anywhere. I'm not invested enough in Book to care and while I agree that the Adira/Gray storyline is an important thing for Star Trek to do, the way it's being handled is like being hit with a saccharine sledgehammer.

I like Discovery a lot, but this Season just didn't seem to land for me.

DIS is still my 4th favorite Trek by a wide margin in both directions (TOS/TNG/DS9 being the holy trinity). Although I think Lower Decks has passed Voyager for 5th and is gaining.

Voyager the low risk series that just tried to straight up copy TNG, had a lot of successes and twice as many complete failures. Versus Discovery the high risk series that has the same failure ratio as Voyager but when it succeeds gives you something Star Trek has never given you before.

I think sometimes we can get set in our judgments about things and they become a narrative. I know I've commented that the first season is the weakest, but I recently re-watched it and it rocks. Don't get me wrong, I love the show and I'm enjoying the new season, but the first season is just such a thrill ride, and a re-watch has completely rehabilitated it in my eyes.

I disagree but I am glad people like it. People should have shows they enjoy. Everything is subjective including the quality of this show except The Orville being the best Star Trek show these days. The one and only objective single hard fact in our complex and confusing world.
