Knights Of Cydonia

Eh, there are better Muse songs. Hysteria has one of the most kickass riffs in recent rock music and Starlight (off the same album as Knights of Cydonia) probably has a better melody.

Hillariously corny music video, though.

How 'bout Stockholm Syndrome? That song is delightfully fast and ear melting.

That one's pretty good too (fast and ear melting can be pretty good, although not what I usually listen to. It has a kickass solo, though). I think Absolution might be a better album, although Black Holes and Revelations is pretty much why I started listening to the band.

Now that you mention it Black Holes and Revelations is my favorite album though. Not to say that Absolution isn't brilliant, because it is.

Knights of Cydonia is awesome. And I also enjoy City of Delusion (especially the horns) and Take a Bow...and Assassin. I guess pretty much the whole album!

Matthew Bellamy's got a great voice too. He can definitely hit those high notes well. :techman:

I just looked up the video on YouTube. It appears to be some kind of parody. At least I hope so. :D

In any case, I think this Topic is more suited to TV & Media. Stand back while I do the hand jive. Wheee-ooooo-eeee!

It's very kitsch, full of sci-fi references and in-jokes for us geeks. :D

I like that song, but I feel it's suffered from overexposure. I prefer several of the songs on "Absolution" which are among my personal favourite Muse songs.

That's what I thought. It's at its best near the end, I think. I'll have to watch it again.

I downloaded Knights of Cydonia after Guitar Hero exposure, because I *love* it. I don't have any other Muse stuff though so I'm not really sure how it rates.

I've not seen many Muse mashups based on KoC, but there are several (often hilarious) mashups of their other songs on YouTube. :guffaw:

Knights... is my "home stretch" running song.

When I am about 1 mile from "home" I flick to Knights and push harder using the tempo to pick up my speed.

Not Muse's best song, but great fun.

Hugo - No one's taking HIM alive either

One thing I like about KOC is the song's beginning lick - it reminds me of "Telstar" by the Tornados. :bolian:

^ I can't view the video right now, but I assume that is from the H.A.A.R.P. DVD?

Anyone who doesn't have that DVD is seriously missing out, it's pretty much the definitive example of how to put on a rock show, totally outstanding. You simply can't believe what Matthew Bellamy is capable of live.

HAARP is spellbinding.

People should pick it up to see and hear the additional might of Hysteria, Apocalypse Please, Micro Cuts, Hoodoo, New Born...

You know what guys - just go buy/steal Origin of Symmetry, Absolution and Black Holes and Revolutions. Muse are one of the best rock bands in history.

If nothing else, check out Micro Cuts, Space Dementia, Hysteria and Citizen Erased.
