Chess variant -- bishops and knights

I just thought of an interesting idea for a chess variant. Set-up and all rules remain the same, except for the knights & bishops. Every time a knight is moved, is becomes a bishop. Every time a bishop is moved, it becomes a knight. This is mandatory, there is no option to leave the piece the same type upon completing the move. The effect is immediate, meaning that moving a bishop to a diagonal to the opposing King does not result in 'check' as the piece is now a knight (until it moves again).

Thoughts?? Any chess fanatics want to play-test it?

^^^ That reminds me of when I taught my kid brother how to play chess (I was 12 and he was 5), to make it 'fair' / give myself a challenge, I allowed his Queen to move like a Queen + a Knight. As he got better, I took that away from him, but I had to play without my Queen. After a while, I got my Queen but had to give up a Rook, then a Knight, then a Bishop. Eventually (a couple of years), he was playing well enough, we played it straight with no special rules. I'd still win most of the time, but he made me work for it.
