Ok so KITT is an advanced AI. He can drive himself but he can't override the driver trying to steal him?

Re: Knight Rider 1x05 "Knight of the Living Dead" - Discussion/Spoiler

That episode was like pure candy corn.

Re: Knight Rider 1x05 "Knight of the Living Dead" - Discussion/Spoiler

I thought the pilots did eject, he told KITT to tell them to evacuate, so yeah, who DID land the plane!?!?

just like Chef in "Enterprise" we'll find out its Johnathan Frankes who also drove the Knight Rider semi in the 80's

oops spilled the beans

Re: Knight Rider 1x05 "Knight of the Living Dead" - Discussion/Spoiler

They didn't get Zoe out of her clothes, but they at least found a way to get her into a cheerleader outfit. :D

Good bottle episode, but it had two old TV cliches...

1) Manipulating the computer graphics on the laptop just by pounding on the keys.

2) Using the show's footage as KITT's recored memories.

We also got to see picutres of KARR. What the hell? Why isn't he an actual car? What's that all about? Or are you folks as much in the dark as I am?

^ To me it's really starting to feel like they're erasing as much as the original series as they can.

Re: Knight Rider 1x05 "Knight of the Living Dead" - Discussion/Spoiler

I think this KARR is not the same one we all assumed. From the description and the schematics shown, it was another prototype that failed. My guess is the thing was used for military applications and went AWOL. I actually like the way it looks as a potential enemy. It's mobile yet at the same time has a very threatening look to it.

Still, I'm conflicted on this development. I love the fact that KI3T has a prototype of his own that "went bad" and will probably have to fight it eventually. However, I had hoped the mention of KARR would be a direct reference to the classic nemesis, and it doesn't appear to be so (unless something else develops down the line different than what we are expecting). I have to confess while I like the design of nu-KARR, I was very disappointed when Mike asked for the image and a Trans-Am didn't appear. :(

This episode was definitely a strong one in the characterization department. KI3T's sense of betrayal is completely appropriate and makes sense, as does Charles' reasoning (I'd be shocked if he didn't create a back door into KI3T's programming). Frankly, the only reason I marked this episode "Excellent" was for the entire sequence where KI3T is going over his fondest memories and the way Mike and Sarah did not want to abandon him. I think that's more characterization than we've seen in the past four episodes between those three characters.

And yes, for all those who wonder where I'd finally hit my limit on silliness, I had a really hard time swallowing the "reconstruct soundwaves" thing.

Except that they've made too many references to truly do that. "Knight Industries" is clearly a reference to Wilton Knight. In the pilot movie, we had Michael Sr. appear, a mention (and appearance) of the Trans Am, Wilton Knight and the Foundation. In the premiere episode, Michael mentions his father by his real name Michael Long and finally in "Knight of the Iguana" there was the Devon and Bonnie name drop.

I think this might be a way of this show trying to establish its own mythology. I just wish that when they mentioned KARR it would have been something out of the history books.

Re: Knight Rider 1x05 "Knight of the Living Dead" - Discussion/Spoiler

At the very least it should have been a duplicate mustang like the current KITT to keep with tradition.

I found it interesting to see that KITT didn't want to "die".

I didn't mind that stuff. I actually got to thinking about what's possible. Could old sounds actually be culled from walls and whatnot? Yeah, I thought about it.

I liked that too. KITT is developing more and more of a personality and it was nice to see how much Mike and Sarah care about KITT.

It may or may not be the same KARR. KARR's body was destroyed, but his CPU was not, it may have been possible to recover that CPU and download it into a new neural processor. Compared to the KITTs, KARR's programing for self preservation would be much more suitable for weaponization. My theory is that after being rebuilt KARR was still pissed at his original betrayal and went rouge.

This is what I'm hoping for. KI3T mentioned that he was missing files on KARR, so I don't think we have the whole story yet. I hope we'll learn that Charles rebuilt and tried to "rehabilitate" KARR after it's last showdown with KI2T.

I voted excellent.

Re: Knight Rider 1x05 "Knight of the Living Dead" - Discussion/Spoiler

Clever to make them download KITT files, good episode, this show is easily getting better as it goes on.

Re: Knight Rider 1x05 "Knight of the Living Dead" - Discussion/Spoiler

DAMMIT :klingon: We had a storm come through, and since I have rabbit ears and a VCR, the recording was snowy and distorted. I got to the point where that annoying Asian girl said that Billy was super smart in telling how to capture her "evil twin" and the recording went to shit. :scream:

Pretty good episode, but did KITT refer to KARR as the "Knight Cybernetic Roving Robot"? :wtf:

I'm going to go back through this thread and read up on all of your comments.

Knight Auto Cybernetic Roving Robot Exoskeleton, which seems just like KRTOS KARR's name with the words "Cybernetic" and "Exoskeleton" thrown in. I think this may lend credence to the theory that this was some type of military vehicle/robot with KARR's CPU in it. I am glad KITT said the line about not knowing everything about KARR. This gives a lot of wiggle room for the writers to tie this "new" KARR to the original.
