Klingons in STID--why do they look like [SPOILERS]?

I liked this movie so much I really don't care whether they're consistent with much of the previous timeline or visual continuity at all. Let these guys do what they want as long as they stay entertaining.
I thought the film was pretty meh, typical Hollywood action film, no brain required... but I completely agree with you 100%.

Meh. Most films of any genre don't require a lot of brainpower to get through, great story or not. It doesn't matter. What matters is that it's smart enough and is engaging for the audience.

Oh I do like that pic !!!! Loved the Klingons !!!

The less harsh and more plush-looking uniforms remind me a little of the ones sported by many of the Klingons in TUC and some of the warriors depicted in Enterprise.

Just a diffrent Klingon look. It not like it has not been establsihed that Klingon looks differ as much a how dogs differ.

I posted this in another thread:

The Klingons should have subdued ridges during this time period, as per their dealings with Eugenics DNA manipulation, during TOS they didn't have ridges at all, but slowly gained them back. So, I would have preferred that the ridges be more subdued than they were here, but still, they aren't as ridgy as we see in TNG, so overall not overly disappointed. Just think they should have been even more a bit smoother.

Also, it makes perfect sense that they'd wear helmets, I think the Klingons were pretty embarrassed at first when they lost their ridges, wearing helmets to cover this disgrace makes sense, so I liked the fact they were wearing helmets.

Agreed.

My only complaint about the Klingons is we did not see enough of them.

This!

Not quite on topic, but no other good thread for this. I enjoyed the little nod to Martok with the Ketha Province.

Me too! When they said it was unihabited I knew something was up because that's where Martok is from.

Exactly.

The uniforms seen in the battle in the Ketha Province do look sort of Cardassian in a way. Hadn't noticed that at first.

Didn't we discuss the new Klingon look in another thread? Well here is my post from there. Dare to compare the Klingons through the ages to the ones in Into Darkness.

Let us appreciate the Klingons through the ages.

With what we've seen before, I see nothing wrong with JJ's interpretation of Klingons. Creative liberty aside, JJ has stayed true to what defines Klingons in the fans eyes.

That picture montage was great. Thanks for compiling it.

Ah, Kras.

Bob the Discount Klingon. We'll always love ya.

The main difference is an extra "ridge", somewhat diamond shaped that the top ridge sits on, and it looks almost like one piece...the eyes were a great touch. This is my favorite look for the Klingons..they're more menacing here than ever.

RAMA

The Klingons have never looked more like bad ass mother fuckers than they did in STiD. Those guys would make the TOS to TNG era Klingons take humongous shits in their leather pants as they collectively cried out for their mommies.

I still think the K'tinga battle cruiser crews destroyed by V'Ger are the creepiest Klingons ever, but these new ones are pretty close.

Were my son and I the only ones hoping against hope that when the lead Klingon removed his helmet it was going to be Micheal Dorn as Colonel Worf?

Agreed. That was always my favorite look. They seemed really alien in a way that Christopher Lloyd with ridges did not.

I actually wouldn't mind if Abrams would make the Klingons even more severe, some like Fek'lar from TNG's "Devil's Due."
