Kirk's 'wraparound' was green as well, of course. All further evidence for the "Command = Green" theory.
It appears the makers of the series fully intended the color scheme to be Green/Blue/Red, but I'm afraid that, for better or for worse, because it came out looking gold on screen, the canonical color is gold. Which the nuTrek movies also reflect. I'd be all for accepting green as the proper color, but I'm just not sure how we can put that particular genie back in the bottle now.
I think it is fun to recognize the real world limits that end up impacting the fictional world. Yeah, it's green, but it ended up being gold...
I actually would rather see more of the wrap-around tunic for different sections, just to have a different style, like the TWOK had the full jacket, and the bomber jacket shown in SFS. You know, have some variety
Ooo...what's really going to blow peoples minds is when they realize that the 1st and 2nd Season Velour Command Uniform Tunics really were yellow/gold, and it's not till you get to the 3rd Season Double Knit Polyester Tunics that the green tinted gold color was used.
