I've read some interesting discussions on this from both LGBT supporters and religious conservatives.
As an American, Kirk Cameron has First Amendment rights, and he's also entitled to his own beliefs, no matter how absurd or antiquated they are. But a lot of people who support Cameron are also religious folks, who said things like "Love the sinner, not the sin," and that they don't condemn a person based on his/her sexual orientation, although they disapprove of their actions or "lifestyles."
Even the Christian in me thinks that sounds incredibly stupid and ridiculous. It's like saying, "Oh, it's perfectly acceptable to be a straight man, but you shouldn't have sex with anyone."
