News Kirk And Picard Action Figures

amazon has moved their release date back (a day before they were set to ship) to september 1.

I admit; better articulation than I was expecting, but still lacking.

Still, better than the latest offerings from DST, which were more statues than action figures.

Don't they have Quality Control at these doll factories? I understand that Alex Ross is pretty good for getting likenesses down. Maybe if they put him on the payroll?

If they can't even get the name labels on their advertising right...

I'll save up for the only plastic worth buying: Blu-Ray releases.

Nice to see they know their characters. Note the caption on this.

The guy who created the awful "Family Guy" is behind that?!

(Actually no, the store's creator is Todd and https://mcfarlane.com/info/company-profile/ suggests they deal with only premiere, exclusive content. Only they used to get the names right, how can they screw up a 30 year old show that isn't exactly arcane?

I don't remember which toy company made those figures. I wish that I still had them. I remember we used to swap the uniforms, putting Klingon uniforms on Kirk and Spock and Star Fleet uniforms on the Klingons.
It was Mego. That was the only company that made those figures.

Just got an email from Big Bad Toy Store that my preorder for Kirk & Picard is in and will be shipping soon.

The Picard one looks more like the guy in the porno that plays him than Patrick Stewart.

Why no Sisko, Janeway or Archer?

Initially, McFarlane Toys announced they were doing a Michael Burnham and a "Discovery" Klingon first, but these were shunted down the line by Kirk and Picard. Stores like Kirk and Picard. The cardbacks suggest that Burnham and Spock will be the next two figures.

Here are my recent purchases. I customised one Kirk as an Andorian.

Why don't "they" just stop making and trying to sell this shite? When -- OK? -- WHEN will STAR TREK merchandise cater to anything else but the kitsch market? How about some upscale items, for a refreshing change of pace? And I'm not talking about that lizard spit they cork & bottle as STAR TREK wine!

I happen to like action figures. "They" are making what they think/know will sell. So what "upscale items" do you covet and how much profit can be made by selling them?

Mego. And Mego has been resurrected; currently available at US Target stores. Rereleases of the DST retro-Mego Chekov, Sulu, Spock, Mirror Kirk, Mirror Spock and Gorn are now available on Mego cards. Kirk and the Romulan Commander are due soon.

I've still got the playmates figures from the nineties and especially the species 8472 model which is highly collectable! :techman: My old mate Scunner was after it and I had to tell him it was worth a mint five years ago! Don't know how he would have paid me for it considering he's as poor as a beggar and his only currency is the millions of flies that exist in his flat?

I appreciate the look they're going for, but the whole Picard holding a phaser thing irritates me. Movie Picard maybe, but it feels a little out of character to TV show Picard to see him 'ready for action'. Now, if he were holding a cup of Earl Grey... ;) :guffaw:

(I always appreciated how the Playmates version of the good captain had his fingers in a pointed motion, ready to give a hearty "Engage!" or "Make It So". Much more in character :D)

Not to be overly critical, or anything, but what's with "Captain James T. Kirk's" eyes? Looks strange, to me ...
He was taken over by the black oil from the X-Files.

I also like action figures.
And if I get an "upscale" item for the home or whatever, you can be sure that it will have absolutely nothing to do with pop culture!

You don't have to use the phaser. His other accessory is the flute he learned to play as Kamin in "The Inner Light". And there are alternate hands.

Alex Ross is a brilliant illustrator and painter. He is not a sculptor. The action figures and collectible statues based on his work are typically sculpted by others.
