Kira Nerys - one of the best Trek characters ever?

To me, she spoils DS9, worst character in Star Trek yet (to this moment, I've seen Original, Animated, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, Discovery). At the moment, I'm on the "second round" - finished Original and TNG, now at the 6th season of DS9.
I was hoping I could learn to stand her, that my brain got accustomed to her behavior, but, no. Her backstory as a poor rebel and freedom fighter does not help, I can not sympathize with her past, I just want to knock her down and kick in the head and ribs until she is transformed from the rude hostile bitch that she is, to a bearable person.
She is not sexy with that flat ass, scrawny legs, stupid haircut and thin lips.
In the middle of the fourth season, I started to do a trick that helps me to continue watching - in every scene where she pulls her usual bitch attitude, I put up a middle finger gesture between myself and her face on the screen, to avoid seeing it.
I enjoy every scene where Dukat or someone else have a chance to humiliate or hurt her, and hate every scene where Odo or anyone else try to calm her down, apologize to her for some wrong/misplaced word, and indulge her behavior. Oh well, at least she restrains herself with Sisko, but that does not undo all the other "damage".
Worst, show-spoiling bitch ever, easily tops Carmela Soprano, Skyler White, Beth Sanchez, and, I think, even Cersey Lannister (she at least really IS sexy).

I'm not sure that knocking people down and kicking them in the head actually results in them being less rude and hostile.

I have to admit, as a young male viewer, I didn't feel particularly attracted to Kira in a physical sense. Not that that matters in the slightest of course, as she was a great character. More so, 'sexiness' can even be annoying, especially when it's pushed in your face, as it was with, say, 7 of 9.

Also, if I were, say, a Czech resistance fighter that had survived WW2, having seen many of my friends die, and hearing stories of my loved ones perishing, some in concentration camps, some in other circumstances for the better part of my life, and then, after the war, I had to play nice to Reinhard Heydrich (*) because politics required it, and to then find out he was trying to put the moves on me, well, that probably would have been enough to make me slightly annoyed as well.

(*) Assuming he survived the war, too, of course, which he didn't in reality.

I don't think so. She's an interesting character and very intense. But I don't think Kira is one of the best Trek characters.

Kira one of Trek's best characters ever? Sure, absolutely. “Best” in the sense of being most interesting, complicated, thought-provoking, well-executed, well-portrayed, entertaining and rewarding. Much of it comes down to Nana Visitor's brilliant performance, but also some of the best writing ever done for Trek.

The original idea of bringing over Ro Laren from The Next Generation always seemed intriguing to me, but I'm so glad they had to create her as an original character. Her role in giving the Bajorans a face and a voice – especially in those first two seasons – can't be overstated and Visitor's performance did a lot of the heavy lifting to make them believable as a people. Others like Opaka, Bareil and Winn were important, too, but Kira always seemed like the perfect character to underscore the tortured soul of the Bajorans.

She strikes me as very well-rounded and realistic, too: Her no-nonsense attitude, fiery hot-headedness and stubbornness are wonderfully balanced out by her warmth, spirituality, deadpan humor and strong sense of justice. It's these qualities that elevate episodes like “Duet”, “Progress”, “Crossover”, “Second Skin” and many more to the essential classics they are in my eyes.

I feel dirty even quoting this vile concoction of sexism, misogyny and unnecessary violent language, but I just wanted to say: Bye bye, you pathetic troll!

Equating Kira to Skyler is a step too far IMHO.
