TV Guide says said:In the Season 3 premiere, Dutch & D'avin, with the help of an onocious black market dealer, are on the hunt for a weapon to draw out the Hullen; Johnny revieves an SOS from Clara, leadng him into the underground world of Hackmods.
Damn, I completely forgot this was coming back tonight. I don't even remember where we left off.
Damn
Damn
That kinda feels like they were unable to get Stephanie Leonidas back and had to rewrite around her absence. I was really hoping to see more of her this season.
The look at the cyberpunk crowd was a welcome new angle to the show, and it also looks like it will be explored even more in the rest of the season. I wonder if Johnny will get any more mods over the season along with the finger lightsaber?![]()
And why is the Quad so important to them, isn't it considered kind of a backwater part of the galaxy?
That D'avin thing at the end, was that set up or foreshadowed in any way last season? Seemed a pretty out of the blue traitorous moment...
There could be a lingering effect from D'avin's exposure to the green goo (especially when it he was in that lab/hospital) that he can fool the ships into believing he's a Hullen.
I wasn't so much surprised that he can control the ship, but that he apparently left without mentioning anything to Dutch (or anyone).
Johnny should have relayed the information about the Hullen infiltrating hackmods, it's the kind of thing someone who's planning a war on Hullen would really need to know...
Oh, dear... Clara's missing and some new character has her robot arm. That kinda feels like they were unable to get Stephanie Leonidas back and had to rewrite around her absence. I was really hoping to see more of her this season. Anyway, it looks like they're tying the whole "hack mod" story thread in with the Hullen conspiracy now.
Meanwhile, back in the Quad, it's weird to see Alvis and especially Pree fighting alongside the Killjoys. I mean, sure, Pree's an ex-warlord, but he seems happy to be a bartender now. It was also kinda weird, on a female-driven show like this, to see such a large team with only one woman on it, or even with no women when Dutch was off being interrogated.
Yeah, I had the same thought. The fact that they didn't just kill off outright makes it seem to me like they were hoping to get her back. Ah, I just checked Wikipedia and she's one of the main cast members for Crackle's original series, Snatched. So they probably had to wait until she was free from that. I'm kind of disappointed, because I was really hoping she'd eventually become a regular on Killjoys.I'm gonna write a letter to Syfy asking for my paycheck because apparently I just did more promotion for the series than they have
Looks like scheduling issues. Since they didn't just kill her off-screen she'll probably show up at some point.
Anyway, it was a fun episode, I didn't rewatch the show prior to it and it did a good job of reminding me of what happened previously and establishing the new status quo.
I liked Ollie a lot, so at least we got a good fill-in/replacement for Clara.Ollie and Pippin were alright, Ollie seems more interesting though, with Pippin being purely a comic sidekick here, but his interactions with Dutch gave a wealth of one-liners.![]()
So the new RAC boss lady is probably a Hullen, which begs the question of just how spread out are they outside of the Quad? And why is the Quad so important to them, isn't it considered kind of a backwater part of the galaxy?
That D'avin thing at the end, was that set up or foreshadowed in any way last season? Seemed a pretty out of the blue traitorous moment...
It also seems to me that if you want to conquer an area, starting at a less important place out in the boondocks would be a good way to get a beachhead set up before you start to push into the more important places, especially in a long term infiltration. It was important to them before because Arkyn was one of the major sources of the Hullen plasma, and the site of the first lab that the Hullen-infected Aneela established to experiment with infecting more humans. (I'm unclear on whether it's where Khlyen first discovered the plasma, but I don't think it was.) The Arkyn plasma is dead now, but the Hullen have spent ten generations laying groundwork for their eventual conquest of the Quad, making deals with the Nine to cultivate human hosts and so forth, so they may not be as quick to abandon that investment as Dutch and Khlyen had hoped.
In any case, their goal is to conquer the whole of the J Colonies, to replace all of humanity. So even if the Quad is no more special than anywhere else, it's still in as much danger of conquest as everywhere else, and it's where our main characters are based, so it's where the fight is based. Although with Johnny and Ollie's arc with the hack mods, we're starting to see the Hullen's infiltration of other populations elsewhere in The J.
No, remember, that turned out to be Dutch replaying an old recording of Johnny, one from before he lost touch with Clara.
I wasn't so much surprised that he can control the ship, but that he apparently left without mentioning anything to Dutch (or anyone).
That makes sense. I thought it was a more recent message and that he was only putting up a front so that Dutch wouldn't worry abut him.
According to Wikipedia, Snatch either started, or all the episodes were released, depending on if Crackle does weekly episodes or all at once, in March, so hopefully there shouldn't have been to much crossover time.I hope they can get Stephanie back for some parts of the season, as I was hoping to see Clara again also. It's good that she's not mentioned as being dead, so I hope that doesn't change.![]()
