Spoilers Killjoys Season 2

Was that "half way across the galaxy" an exagerration or can they really travel that far in that amount of time?

Khlyen and Level 6 seem to have access to technology unknown in the Quad, like FTL (quantum/ansible?) communication. Maybe that ship is unusually fast. There is something odd about it, apparently, given the weird image distortion they use on the scenes of Khlyen and Fancy Lee inside the ship.

I was a bit disappointed, because when D'Avin first mentioned his home planet here, I thought I heard him say it was "a Ringworld." That would've been a hell of a thing to see. But it turned out to be just a ringed world. I guess it wouldn't have made a difference, though, if they only had the budget to show the inside of a small cabin.

I'm pretty sure he said ringed world, not ringworld.

Yes, that is what we saw in the establishing shot -- Khlyen's ship descending toward a planet with Saturn-like rings. In fact, moments after I thought, "Did he say 'Ringworld'?" I thought, "Nahh, he probably said 'ringed world,' since they called it a 'planet' earlier." Still, for a moment there, I was hoping...

That reminds me, is Syfy still working on a Ringworld adaptation? I think I remember seeing them announce one about the time they announced The Expanse, Childhood's End, and The Magicians.

After the hash they made of Childhood's End -- and Earthsea and Riverworld (twice!) -- I'm kind of hoping the Ringworld miniseries fell through.

Rob Stewart and Luke Macfarlane did do a surprisingly good job playing each other's characters. That was well-done. (And I like it that Dutch recognized Khlyen from his fighting style.)
.
I don't think Luke Macfarlane really approached Rob Stewart's Khlyen, who just radiates confidence in this role, combined with just the right amount of menace. I liked Stewart's D'Avin rather better. "I'm going to go full Khlyen on your ass" was a wonderful line.

It was a logical plot to get Pawter involved with the nine, but I'm not wild about the execution. Of course the shady boyfriend had to be a full traitor, and I don't get the motives of the mother at all. Only the father was a sympathetic character. A bit of a cardboard family.

I think it would have been better to turn this takeover - surely a major change in the political landscape, given Pawter's ties to Westerly and Dutch - into a season arc for Pawter. Give it a bit more time to set it up decently and then go for the pay-off.

The Khlyen parts were interesting, with Dutch apparently slowly stopping to see Khlyen as an enemy.

True, Stewart (who's presumably a more seasoned actor) came closer to the character he was imitating. But Macfarlane did a good job of adopting a substantially different persona from D'Avin's, even if it wasn't a note-perfect impression of Stewart. (Heck, I actually like Macfarlane's version of Khlyen a bit better than Stewart's.)

The cast credits are odd on Killjoys. They have the usual "guest stars" listed after the title sequence, but four of their biggest recurring characters -- Pawter, Khlyen, Pree and Fancy -- the actors are relegated to the end-of-the-show credits.

Yeah, a lot of Canadian shows don't bill guest stars as prominently as US shows do. Different contracts and union rules, I guess. I don't think KJ showed any guest-star credits to speak of in season 1, though, so this is progress.

What's interesting, though, is that Tamsen McDonough, the voice of Lucy, has been billed at the top of Act I in every episode this season. So she's basically getting second-tier regular billing for a voiceover part, which is unusual.

Although the preview for this Friday's episode would seem to indicate
that Lucy will be getting an android body played by McDonough. Which hopefully will be handled in a way that's satisfyingly different than Rommie on Andromeda or the Android on Dark Matter.

Those nutty socialists! ;)

Clever way to give Lucy an android body so Tamsen McDonough could have an on-camera role (temporarily). And I love Johnny's line -- "Technically 'gynoids,' but nobody says that."

"I'm not your manic pixie assassin?" However far in the future they are, it seems they still have TV Tropes.

Wow, everyone's getting some tonight. Although... eww... did Sabine get killed by what I think she did? Yikes. Next time, D'Avin, use protection!

Maybe that's why he and Dutch had to find others besides the fact that they had a huge fight. I mean, for the story to continue. Now that's he seems to be shooting poison.

Yet another android kiss? So hoary... (yeah, spelled that right:)) It'd be like the Doctor kissing the TARDIS, oh wait!

I know these shows don't have the biggest budgets but the lighting and so on in this series makes it look a lot like those old live-action CD games or the cheapest of those straight to VHS jobs of yore.

So, The Most Toys, combined with Mudd's Planet and Uhura singing to Spock.

Sabine was a level 6?

That was (mostly) a lot more light hearted than the average episode!
Dutch left her poison lyre behind. :(

And that one where the computer had a crush on Kirk.

People seem to misremember that one. In "Tomorrow Is Yesterday," the computer didn't have any kind of crush; it had just been reprogrammed to give reports in a sultry voice and append "Dear" at the end as a practical joke. But the early novel Web of the Romulans by M.S. Murdock -- which was supposedly taking place immediately after TiY despite Chekov being on board and the Romulans using the kind of untrackable cloaks that were new in "The Enterprise Incident" -- blew that up into the computer suddenly being sentient and having a full-blown Fatal Attraction psychotic obsession with Kirk. Maybe that's what people are remembering as the "crush," though I don't know if the books were ever that widely read even then.

I'm surprised so many of you overlooked the big reveal of the episode; that there's a race of advanced aliens with biological ships in this setting, and they're not very benign from the sound of it.

I wonder if they're the reason the Company is doing the various things they're doing this season.

I did wonder if they were aliens, but I don't really remember there being anything to indicate they weren't just another group of humans from somewhere else in The J.
I have to admit, when the episode started I didn't expect it to have such a huge game changing reveal.
I liked the immortal guy.
Lucy getting a body was fun. So that was the actress who voices her then? I was wondering about that.
That was pretty nasty there at the end with Sabine.

Maybe they're the same ones as Khleyn's Black Root with - a name that starts to make more sense if the ships are organic.
