No Khan for me. It's been done, and it was done well in my opinion.

The last film tried to make Trek a whole new universe with fresh ideas, so use that to the full potential rather than re-imagine ideas that have come before. Such a film would only draw comparisons with Space Seed and TWOK, and I'd rather not see that and all the arguments amongst fans that go with it. I'd like the film to be viewed in its own right as a reboot/re-imagining, whatever you want to call it set in its own independent corner of the Star Trek world.

Some of the biggest complaints about the TNG-ENT era were that the franchise was lacking originality by the end and treading over the same ground again. Nemesis, despite some of its other flaws, took a pretty harsh beating for its similarity to some of TWOK's aspects. So avoid this totally and give us something completely new.

As long as it's a fresh, new Khan (as different from Ricardo Montalban's Khan as Heath Ledger's Joker was from Jack Nicholson's) and not a stale rehash, it'll be fun!

Hell no. Why bother when there are literally limitless options to explore new ground? Especially when this storyline in particular has already been done AND done so well? No thanks, Mr. Abrams. Give us something we haven't seen before... preferably without any time-travel elements of any kind, whatsoever.

Sure, why not? I loved the Joker in the Dark Knight and Khan is probably the most well known villain in Trek.

They did say they were using The Dark Knight as a reference point in how to craft a sequel.

If they've already worked out the plot, why would they want input at this late stage? Other than to gauge reaction? Working Khan into the story as the main antagonist if he wasn't before would lead to a massive script overhaul.

In the DVD commentary for ST XI, they did say at the end that they thought about mentioning the Botany Bay but then decided to leave it out to open up possibilities for the sequel.

They've been circling around Khan for a while. I think they'll work him in at some point.

I agree with this. Khan Noonien Singh has been done before, and well. Why do a remake of this particular story line? Let's go towards something different, fresh, and new.

Star Trek is about boldly going where no man has gone before. It is not, however, about "boldly" going where everyone has gone before.

I think they already know that most fans are against Khan. . . they keep mentioning khan because he keeps being brought up by the press, not because they are planning on him being the main villain. . . they already have a story, and if people voted for Khan, then he would get a passing mention. . .that was my read on it. . .

^ For real, son? They're not using Transformers 2 as inspiration?! What kind of fucked up shit is that?

I'm gonna bust a cap in their ass! To quote Mudflap, "Any bad robot out there better get ready for an ass-whoopin'"!

I want something new and exciting! Oh, or tribbles. Or pon farr. Or mirrorverse. OR ALL OF THOSE THINGS.

All kidding aside, I'd rather not see Khan more than referenced just for fun in the sequel.

I'm gonna vote no for this one. While this new universe gives them the flexibility to visit old enemies in a new light, I would prefer that they keep their first couple movies going in new directions. If they keep doing well and putting out great movies, then sure- start redoing the old stories. Even that has the caveat of the stories better be original, not a rehash of the old stories with new actors.

No.

I'm not saying that if they do involve Khan I'm going to boycott, bitch and moan every day or that a great movie can't come out of it.
But I would prefer they didn't go that way. Maybe keep Khan for movie 3 or 4, if they are made.

No Khan, please. Let's break some new ground. I couldn't figure out where to vote.

The whole Khan trajectory is linked to an encounter in a completely different sequence of events.

And few Klingons, no tribbles, and NO MIRROR UNIVERSE. It's already a damned mirror universe.
