Yeah, that's true. I still find their stories entertaining though... to the point where I listen to their spinoff podcast.

I think Smith was right when he said that Jersey Girl was still reeling off the Gigli/Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez stigma.
Mainstream doesn't mean producing stupid movies. Speilberg and Cameron are mainstream but I highly doubt either will ever make a movie they equate with "a retarded kid".He once saw Smith as the saviour of the indie scene, which he admits in the article, and now feels like Smith is selling out to try and be a more mainstream filmmaker, which Smith has said he'd like to do.
