Kevin Smith Reveals "Red State" Poster!

The term "Red State" evokes right wing conservatives who preach the word of god and are vehemently anti-anything they don't happen to believe in which happens to be a theme the film deals with head on, and in doing so tells the viewer every

You're contradicting yourself. Earlier you claimed this:

... this isnt a blanket "christians suck" film, its a take on Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church's extreme fundamentalism which as far as I know isnt actively endorsed by any main form of Christianity...

Now, you're claiming it is, in fact, about all "right wing conservatives."

Two out of three says Republican Tea party. (I'd include Anti-American due to their inability to understand that the constitution was designed to be amended).

Who doesn't understand that the constitution is intended to amended? I've heard Tea Partiers call for amendments, in fact.

If anyone bothered to read about this film before making snap judgments, this isnt a blanket "christians suck" film, its a take on Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church...

But if that's the case, the title is misleading. "Red State" generally refers to a republican leaning state. As the Southern Poverty Law Center notes, Phelps ideology is not really liberal or conservative, just extremist, anti-gay and anti-American.

Exactly.

I wouldn't say the two are mutually exclusive. Westboro Baptist Church is in Kansas, which, would you believe it is a Red State.

I'm not Kevin Smith, im just saying what I see, and what I see is a reasonable title for an independent horror film. Which is still only a film, its make believe, don't get too riled up about it.

Melissa Leo from Homicide? Yay!
Agreed. For awhile it seemed like she had vanished from the face of the Earth after Homicide ended. Her character was a favorite of mine in that series.
While I've only seen her in a few things since Homicide ended, her IMDB entry certainly doesn't suggest she had "vanished from the face of the Earth." It looks to me like she's been steadily working.

Wasn't one of the reasons she was let go from Homicide, and wasn't exactly in demand for a while was the fallout from the John Heard stalking mess? Not that it was any of her fault, of course.

Smith is a film-maker I almost always enjoy, so long as he's not trying too hard to be funny as I think he did with J&SBSB and maybe Clerks 2.

Aside from Mallrats, those are the two I enjoy the most. Cant claim to really like Clerks, Dogma or Chasing Amy,
