Kevin Pollock As Captain Kirk

Yes I know about the Nielsen ratings and how silly it all is! Some shows are rubbish yet still get a second season while good ones get the chop! :wah:
JB

Yes, I’ve seen numerous series that were excellent but were cancelled after 13 weeks, and others that were absolute garbage run on for 5, 6, 7 years.

I liked the Planet of The Apes TV series, which only ran for fourteen episodes and which was very popular in the UK and Logan's Run also and The Fantastic Journey that only made it to ten episodes!!! Anyone remember Struck By Lightning which starred Jack Elam? :D

A few years back before BBC America came on, American television started to run British comedy shows. That’s how I got hooked on Benny Hill. Then, almost as quickly, the shows disappeared from our airwaves.

There's not a single actual joke in that routine other than that old chestnut the "flied lice" joke, as if east Asian languages invert Ls and Rs...well, they don't reverse them. They simply don't have the exact L or R sounds we have in English, instead typically having a sound which is midway between them, which means when translating their words into western languages they're not always consistent between whether to write R or L. To our ears that in-between sound often sounds like the wrong letter, but they're not always saying R for L and L for R.

Grimpy's!!!
JB

According to The Urban Dictionary, "Grimpy" is an insult which implies someone is inbred, gay, and wears a diaper

God knows what's wrong with me, but I'm going to assume you really did not mean it that way, and that there's some other meaning. So I'm going to give you one opportunity to explain that term before you receive a formal infraction.

I'll be waiting...

Hopefully, @johnnybear meant it in a more archaic fashion. Published in 1917:
The Grimpy Letters at Amazon
The Grimpy Letters at Google Books

Edit to add:
I couldn't find one use of the word as an insult*. Nor is it in the Anti-Defamation League database.
So I think it is just a made up bit of bullshit (all too common on the Urban Dictionary.) Especially considering it is the UD user's one and only submitted definition.

What I did find:
It could mean 'grim' + 'grumpy':
http://wordcentral.com/help/thesnotes/byod/byod_browse.php?type=recent&offset=1800

It's a book title on LuLu
http://www.lulu.com/shop/nicholas-moffatt/grimpy/hardcover/product-22854360.html

Found two businesses that use it in their names:
https://businessfinder.nj.com/15841149/Grimpys-Gathering-Vineland-NJ
https://www.yelp.com/biz/grimpy-grumps-grub-ontario

It's a single off the album Streetloaf by Creepy Pizza available at Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Grimpy/dp/B017J4OABY

It was used as a NPC character name in a now-defunct online game:
http://www.fantasicawiki.com/wiki/File:Grimpy_card_back.jpg (manga type art likely NSFW) Surly fits more with 'grim' + 'grumpy'.

*(used both Google and DuckDuckGo)

Benny Hill said Grimpy's!!! I've never heard of the term before!!! I just thought it was funny as he was meaning Green Peace!!! Why must everything be put down to an insult!!!
JB

The Benny Hill Show ran for decades and pulled audience numbers up to ten million. It's humor was admittedly working class and crude, but ultimately it fulfill it's most important requirement, it made people laugh.
