Yep. It's not Sullivan's call.
He only supervises it. And produces it. That unconnected stuff. It's not like he's sodded off to play art house porn on a streaming service or anything.
Yep. It's not Sullivan's call.
Yep. It's not Sullivan's call.
Nope. He's been a fan for a while. http://www.mtv.com/news/1713966/simon-pegg-star-trek-into-darkness/He wasn't a Trek guy pre working on it. I think local boy did good.
Why not?
Wow. I don't think the universe is ready for such a torrential onslaught of fan-wanky drivel.
Because he's not in charge of the creative direction of the show. Did you think he was?
Then we'll have to agree to disagree. How boring would it be if everyone had the same opinion? The Star Trek universe could certainly benefit from his perspective and sense of humor.
Really, really benefit. Like, a whole lot.
Then we'll have to agree to disagree. How boring would it be if everyone had the same opinion?
He's in charge of something, at least.
Sure it matter what they say. They created it, they have final say. And consistent with the established universe? How often did the 24th century shows not clash with eachother on small and big things? Often enough.
But you are correct about one thing. YOU decided, for yourself. You can treat this like a 3rd timeline if you wish, but the simple fact of the matter is, it's Prime timeline, since the creators of the show have established that as the settings. If certain new events change what's established, than we'll just have to learn to deal with it. Or be ostriches.![]()
Because NuTrek copyrights! Or something"a reboot of nuTrek not original"
If it's a reboot, how can you tell what you've rebooted?
If I remember correctly, he'd claimed at some point that Beyond was cancelled and was going to be replaced with two TV shows, one of which would be a comedy (he predicted The Orville!Nutcase conspiracy theorist Doug Fitz fka Para Mobius (you know, the guy who was claiming years ago the new Trek series was Enterprise season 5, leading into Axanar: The Series) claims Bad Robot is secretly involved with Discovery and the show is using its copyrights and it's all Netflix's fault!
I think. It's really hard to follow.

jaime, educate us all - what exactly does the "supervising producer" on a television series supervise?
No, it doesn't matter at all what they say it is. It's not about being "ostriches". Lol. I happen to have no preference for what timeline it is set in. A reboot might be great. I'm willing to "deal" with a great deal of change. But whether it is prime has nothing to do with anything they say in interviews. It is only a matter of what happens on screen. And there was no new timeline between TOS, the Movies or TNG era, though there were times when technical, practical, financial considerations would cause changes, like having the budget to give the Klingons a more alien appearance in TMP. None of which apply to DSC though.![]()
If I create something, and say it is set in a certain era, and people think it doesn't feel like that, that's their own feeling on the matter. But in the end, as creator, I'm still right. No matter what others might think or feel. So yes, it does matter they say. It really is that simple.
I personally also couldn't care what timeline it is, but it's a very simple fact that this show is set in the prime timeline. I honestly can't believe people think that what the creators of the show say doesn't matter.
And your budget comment not applying to DSC.... I have no idea what the budget for this show is, but technology has certainly improved, giving the production team the change to do far more elaborate things with SFX, set design, props and yes, also make-up. It's the exact same situation they had when making TMP. More budget, more technology.
In the end of the day, this show is set in Prime, but fans can't deal with this not looking like TOS. And if, at the end of the da, they'll feel better saying this isn't Prime, that's cool. I don't care. But my point, that creators are right in the end, stands.
No, if you put nuclear weapons and jet fighters in your WWI story, you reimagined history. I don't care what the creator says. It doesn't matter..
That look is now 20-something years old. I'm not the biggest fan of the new look Klingons (although I'll keep an open mind until I see the actual show) but I'm still a fan in principle of them having been given them a new look. It's not the same as TMP. They easily have the money to use the TNG/DS9/VOY Klingon
Not as many as Wars, but the Trek references are there. The Wars probably just got the bulk because of the prequels (particularly the episode dealing with the Episode One backlash)He wasn't a Trek fan. General SF and particularly Star Wars. It's why spaced is full of wars references and no Trek.
