Kelvin Timeline all but confirmed

^ Uh huh... because Simon Pegg may have told a fib, that means nobody can be trusted with anything they say anymore?

Which makes their lives easier in hiding plot twists... but credibility does seem to become an issue. Same thing goes for one or three Doctor Who producers as well, so the concept isn't new - nor limited to Trek movie makers...

Since DS9 or ENT or JJ? Or TOS with "Let That be Your Last Battlefield"? :D As long as they keep some optimism or other Trek values, a little liberation does open up more storylines. (the flip side to optimism is many TV episodes end way too happily and/or neatly/simplified (for a show that's a metaphor about the complexity of our society), the most glaring of which are "Bar Association" and "The Cloud Minders".

The problem is that these people have to say something, even lie, to throw off audiences, since a big revelation exists in the plot and those people are trying to salvage it for the majority of the audiences that probably don't want it spoiled for them. Especially since someone leaked "Spock is going to die!" in 1981 or so, though look at how well that turned out by comparison. Yet despite being a semi-clone of TWOK, nobody spent the 11th hour trying to hid the fact that the dude was Khan (sorta, maybe "NuKhan" or "Alt-Uni-Khan" or something but for all the issues, I did like the altered history regarding the setup and imprisonment of his people.... of course, one of those renames sounds rather like "unicorn" but nobody's perfect...)
My best friend spoiled it for me right in the theater, moments before it happened. We were watching the film, and right before Benedict gets his closeup to reveal his true identity, my friend leans over and says "It's Khan."

I wanted to slap the hell out of him for that.

I think the big issue with the uniforms is the lack of color scheme's for rank. I still think we might see that when we see stuff set on "Discovery." I could even see the show transition into more traditional looking uniforms as the show moves forward. We have seen uniform changes before in the middle of the shows. TNG and DS9 both did it.

There is a color scheme for the departments like all of the other shows, the metallic bands and sides of the uniforms are different colors. We have gold for command, silver for sciences, and bronze for operations.
Source.

Well when he also said that Krall would have depth and not be out for revenge, and none of that was true, it means that I no longer believe what Peg says about Star Trek. But in the case of Discovery, Fuller said that it was Prime, but could have just as easily been Kelvin. Then Sullivan says it's a true Prequel to TOS, which would imply that it will actually resemble TOS. Instead, what we see in the trailer looks like 90%, 9% reboot (the Klingons,) and 1% TOS (the communicator and tricorder.)

In the background of the leaked Klingon photo there is someone in a red shirt:

Now it's rather blurred so I can't tell if it's an actor in costume or just a member of the production crew. Also it could easily be someone in one of the red Klingon outfits we see in the trailer, but there are shiny stripes on the sleeves the the rank stripes on the TOS uniforms.

You must have a higher res version than you posted, because I don't know how you're making out rank stripes.

I'd say that's fairly likely one of the red suited Klingons.

but credibility does seem to become an issue
If they were lying to cover up a plot twist like the khan reveal, I'd be happy to accept that possibility, but unless people seriously believe that they're planning an amazing exciting plot twist where it's secretly the Kelvin universe, why would they lie?

Is it
me or do the sets not look all that advanced in the teaser? I think the graphic's and the lens flairs and the uniforms, robot and Klingons that scream Kelvin Universe.
The actually bridge design looks very traditional to me along with the corridor. Speaking of the lens flair I think someone said that wasn't used in the Netflix version so I wonder if they will be used in the actual episodes.
To me I think their is still room for this to feel like a prime show but it seems natural to think of the Kelvin timeline first when watching the teaser.
I also wonder if we might have a DS9 type of situation were the ship is stated to not be a typical vessel, which means outside of the main ship's we can asume a slightly tweaked version of the look of "TOS" is going on but on the main sets we see something designed to be different.
KInd of like how DS9 was a Cardisian space station and the show introduced new uniforms. Outside of the station the Federation still looked like TNG and even things like Runabouts did as well but on the station you could have a more alien look.

There's a light stripe at the end of the arm. But I agree it's probably a Klingon.

Krall does have quite a bit of depth, and isn't actually consciously out for revenge. He is actually out for changing the ideology of the federation by staging an alien terrorist attack.

With his criticism of the revenge theme in STID and several other statements he made which basically said that revenge wasn't going to be an aspect of Beyond. I was disappointed when it was.

I'll take the word of someone creating the show over a supervising producer. Thanks.

So that's fuller right out then....and to be a prequel to both Prime and Kelvin, considering when the show is set...it just has to not mention where Kirk is or the USS Kelvin incident with specifics. Me...I would mess with people. Mention a Kelvin incident with whirlpools. Wait three episodes and have the ship warp in with the Farragut and a cgi shatner. Then a time travel episode two parter...in Vulcan and Romulus's rosy post unification future.
All a plumbing problem on the Kelvin. Someone didn't flush the red matter.
