Kelvin Timeline all but confirmed

It doesn't matter at all where they say it's set, only whether it actually is consistent with the established universe. But the moment I heard "reimagine" from those creators, I decided to treat it as a 3rd timeline, and that's fine with me. I have no particular preference for what timeline the show is set in.

Sure it matter what they say. They created it, they have final say. And consistent with the established universe? How often did the 24th century shows not clash with eachother on small and big things? Often enough.

But you are correct about one thing. YOU decided, for yourself. You can treat this like a 3rd timeline if you wish, but the simple fact of the matter is, it's Prime timeline, since the creators of the show have established that as the settings. If certain new events change what's established, than we'll just have to learn to deal with it. Or be ostriches. ;)

Meh. Picard didn't mention him, and he too was a member of the bald badass of the bridge brotherhood. So am guessing he and the kelvin didn't amount to much in prime. Probably cos of its wonky hulls.

No, because Robau founded the BBBB. Even the mention of his name involved paying royalties to Robau.

So are there any sources that say it's "prime timeline"?

Only the producer, of all people. ;) And I'm honestly not sure why we shouldn't believe him...

Reminds me of the old "Paul is dead" Beatles rumor. Paul himself repeatedly insisted in public that he was still alive, but that did not stop the rumor. Some people...

What producer? What did they say? I'm just curious. I asked this question earlier in the thread and no one answered. I looked it up and only could find the fuller quote from last summer.

That's because people are nosey, and try to learn everything about a movie that depends upon a reveal to turn the story. If someone had asked me the same thing, and I knew Khan was in it, I'd have said the same thing.

Since when did Trek fans become so nihilist? :sigh:

Since DS9 or ENT or JJ? Or TOS with "Let That be Your Last Battlefield"? :D As long as they keep some optimism or other Trek values, a little liberation does open up more storylines. (the flip side to optimism is many TV episodes end way too happily and/or neatly/simplified (for a show that's a metaphor about the complexity of our society), the most glaring of which are "Bar Association" and "The Cloud Minders".

The problem is that these people have to say something, even lie, to throw off audiences, since a big revelation exists in the plot and those people are trying to salvage it for the majority of the audiences that probably don't want it spoiled for them. Especially since someone leaked "Spock is going to die!" in 1981 or so, though look at how well that turned out by comparison. Yet despite being a semi-clone of TWOK, nobody spent the 11th hour trying to hid the fact that the dude was Khan (sorta, maybe "NuKhan" or "Alt-Uni-Khan" or something but for all the issues, I did like the altered history regarding the setup and imprisonment of his people.... of course, one of those renames sounds rather like "unicorn" but nobody's perfect...)
