i guess if you really want some kind of explanation...before you even see the story i should add, think of it this way: this is a multiple Doctor story. if Kate meets the 10th (or due to timey wimey-ness) she may not remember it, much like Sarah Jane doesn't seem to remember the events of The Five Doctors.
