Kate Mulgrew Reported to Be Diva on OITNB Set (No Spoilers)

Have you ever watched Orange Lynx? Obviously not. It is not a boring prison series or even a prison series it is a very intense drama comedy. It has nothing to do the prison formula.

No I haven't. It hasn't arrived to my part of the world yet.

I just assumed that it was a prison series and those are mostly boring.

Although OitNB is not boring, scattered through the pilot they give you the bare bones of what you EXPECT every "women in prison" series will be about (HoHum) and then just as you are about to say "not for me" they turn everything upside down and inside out.

Season 1 is out on DVD in the US Lynx. Not sure when its coming to a store near you.

Oh, and to bring this back on topic, IN the TV series... :mallory: Kate Mulgrew's Character is a TOTAL diva! :guffaw:

When did diva acquire a negative connotation? It used to refer only to female stars of opera in praise of their talent.

Probably when a couple of those stars started to behave like dipshits towards all their coworkers and subordinates.

All in the Kool-Aid and don't know the flavor.

Criticizing co-workers? I suspect all of us have done that. Does that make us divas too?

Depends on what the criticism is.

When you criticize a coworker because she passess out because the neck of her costume is too tight & cutting off blood flow to her brain, by saying, "professionals don't complain about costumes," then, yeah, you're being a bitch.

Does it really even matter if Ms. Mulgrew is being a diva? Lots of Hollywood types are a pain in the Biblical donkey, but who cares, as long as they don't hurt the quality of the show?

Really doesn't matter to me.

I just like providing counterpoint to the St. Kate commentary.

I didn't realize those orange scub tops were that tight. ;)

That's a dangerous pastime my friend.

Jedi_Master, Team Janeway hasn't airlocked anyone in 2... 3 months, tops. :p

Pretty much.
Let's be honest, if the reports on the set of OITNB are factual.
She's not just criticizing, she's being purposefully condescending to boost her own ego.
Sounds like something Madonna would do.
Yep, diva complex.

I went back to one of the Diva website accounts to see what they actually claimed, and found this in the replies to the Intouch "article" by Jessica Pimentel (Maria Ruiz).

This is complete garbage and a lie. I am on this show. Kate is a professional in every way and has been around longer than anyone on the cast and it shows. She gets and earns my complete respect. Watching her work is a master class each day.
Is she real or fake? The comment is on the 5/7/14 page of her linked facebook account.

It's an important bit of information if you want to hire her for your fan film. ;)
