So, did anyone watch the first episode of the K9 TV series? It was shown on Disney XD in the UK as a sneak preview for the series, which apparently airs next year.
I can't say I was very impressed with it, but it wasn't nearly as bad as some of the comments at Gallifrey Base would suggest. It could improve. But it's definitely a kids' show.
The show's a semi-official Doctor Who spinoff, being produced by an Australian company instead of the BBC. In the UK what a writer creates for a show, if said writer isn't on staff, remains the property of the writer, and can be used in other contexts, which is why there have been a few low-budget direct-to-video movies featuring elements of Doctor Who, like the Zygons and Autons, as well as spinoff audios (BBV produced a couple of K9 audio dramas several years ago). This is the first time anyone's done anything on this scale, though.
