K-Mart commercial

I've seen these K-Mart commercials over the last couple months.

The ones with the tag-line: "Shop K-Mart, shop K-Mart Smart"

And every time, I hear: "Shop Smart, Shop S-Mart"

Any of you hear it that way?

And then I wonder, is it just coincidence, or did the person who created the ad see the movie and have a sense of humor and decided to stick it in there?

WE have a K-Mart right next to Walmart, and it hasn't gone away, been there forever, the Walmart was upgraded to a super walmart and yet the K-Mart survives!

I'm sure being bought by Sears helped a lot in that regard.

We've got those 2 chains around here, with a lot more Wal-Marts than K-Marts.

I end up going to the Wal-Mart mainly because there's 2 within a 10 minute drive. And one of those was recently "upgraded". The food selection still sucks in my opinion, there's a supermarket chain called Woodmans where I do my food stock-up.

There's still a K-Mart where I live. It also upgraded to Big K-Mart even though no extra space has been added.

The ceiling has water damage.

The food court has been closed up for 10 + years. They just block it off with removable walls and pile boxes were people would sit

^ There's a K-Mart like that around here too (more a product of the crap town it's in), but the other one is actually big and fairly clean.

Samurai8472, I remember you explained your avatar in another thread, but even when I'm trying not to look, my attention is drawn to it. And like the real thing, along with the spinning hourglass, I find my blood pressure rising when I see it.

It's some kind of unconscious reaction.

My local K-Mart is like that also. We had 3 others but they've all closed. What's really strange is that the company that owns K-Mart is actually the one that bought Sears. You'd think it would be the other way around.

I thought is was the other way around.

I think the original owner of K-Mart also owned the failed Builders Squares.

Added: Someone's customized S-Mart commercial.

The K-Mart here is modern and well organized. It's smaller than the Walmart by about 30k sq ft. Still has a restaurant, was recently remodelled with 50s style booths and counters, neon, etc. Surprising since it's connected to the inside of a mall that has about 10 choices in the food court.

^ He's right. K-Mart's parent corporation bought Sears.

I too figured it could only be the other way round, but go figure in the business world.
