Justice League has been released early on Digital now and there is no "secret" Snyder cut or some shit.

Yeah, but you said they've said there will be no releases other than that one.
Which nobody said.

Would such a thing need to be said? If they are releasing a director's cut or something, the time for that would be now. Hopefully I am wrong. I suppose Watchmen had a director's cut released much later, but we always knew such a cut existed. Not the case with JL.

I honestly have no idea, I wouldn't dismiss it just yet though. It certainly wouldn't be the first time someone tried to double dip in the home media market if they did, and the "deleted scenes" in this edition combined are less than 2 minutes long (it's just the black suit one and "he said you'd come"). We know there's more deleted stuff than that just from the trailers, so maybe those bits weren't included in the reel because they wanna use them later for an extended edition or whatever.

On the other hand WB might just wanna get this over with and behind them, so who knows

I suppose WB might be playing a wait and see game. If the DCEU takes off, demand for a new cut of this movie might pick up, and they'll "listen to the fans"...

Since the movie has come to the discount theater (which is only a mile & a half from my house), I've seen it a couple more times. I think it gets better on repeat viewings. I've upped my grade from a D- to a C+. Steppenwolf is still kind of a lame villain but he gets the job done. I appreciate the chemistry between the team a lot more, even though the whole thing feels pretty sudden.

Thinking some more about Superman's CGI upper lip, the good news is that it never looks fake. It just never quite looks like him. It looks like maybe the novocaine hasn't worn off or like he's wearing prosthetic teeth or something. But the only really bad shot is, unfortunately, the first shot of the movie where the kids are interviewing him. There's also some bits in the mid-credits scene at the end where he's racing the Flash that don't look quite right. And then there are some shots during the big final fight with Steppenwolf where he's clearly entirely CGI. But it's not nearly as much of a problem as some of the early reviews of the film made it out to be.

But what makes me more sympathetic to the movie as a whole is Batman. Batman is just always awesome and I still love Jeremy Irons as Alfred. He's such a catty bitch! ;) J.K. Simmons is also awesome as Commissioner Gordon and I really want to just see a proper Batman movie with this cast! Especially if they can also bring in Jared Leto's Joker at some point.

But even if he's just being used as a part of BvS or Justice League, my feeling is: "It's a movie with Batman in it! How bad can it be?" (Thinks about Batman & Robin.) "Don't answer that." :p

Sometimes, for me at least, seeing something for the first time can just be too jarring, then you're ready for it and it doesn't seem "so bad" as it did. First time I saw Princess Lea in Rouge One almost made me jump, for example. Afterwords I thought it was meh. So if you like something enough to see it again, then your mind is probably prepared for it.

Finally got around to seeing this. It wasn't terrible. Big for me was the exclusion of TV Flash and Green Arrow. I know all the political reasons why they weren't there. But, the film would have been MUCH more enjoyable to me if they had been there. Especially Gustin's Flash. Gustin and Amell have enough gusto to carry their respective characters in a big-budget film. This took some wind out of the film for me. Also, Steppenwolf was a big step down from James Spader's Ultron in terms of an interesting foil for the heroes. A booming voice isn't enough for a CG villain- Spader brought menace and personality to Ultron and showed how a CG villain can be successfully played. I did like the interaction between the heroes in the bat cave- some of the best moments of the entire film.

There was a 16 month gap between the DVD releases of the Theatrical & Director's Cuts of Daredevil. Granted, I wouldn't have really known about the Director's Cut at all if it weren't for some of the Daunte Jackson courtroom scenes showing up in the behind-the-scenes documentary on the first DVD release. Still, it makes me hold out some hope for a Snyder cut of Justice League. Though, the problem with doing alternate cuts in this day & age is that so many big movies require so much more FX work in nearly every scene. The days of cheaply releasing alternate cuts of movies like Daredevil, Aliens, Alien 3, Terminator 2, Stargate, Apocalypse Now, Star Trek II, Star Trek VI, or Superman II are largely gone. Even the new FX work done on the Special Edition release of Highlander 2 was probably a drop in the bucket compared to the numerous unfinished FX sequences from something like Justice League or Fantastic Four (2015).

Still, I wouldn't mind at least seeing a rough cut of the Snyder version just to get an idea of what he had in mind. I don't know that it would be better than what we got but it would probably at least be a better stylistic fit with Man of Steel & Batman v. Superman.

There had better be an ultimate edition of this movie... with the scenes that were cut... hopefully making it a better film and re-rendering Henry Cavill's face. Good Lord was that CGI removal of the mustache horrible. There's a YT video of a guy using a $300 used computer to CG render Cavill's mustached face and it turned out about 1000 times better than what was on screen.

Reminds me of the FX making-of video on Superman Returns where they showed how they digitally changed Marlon Brando's mouth. It seemed like they actually got it just right and then they did a "lighting pass" that ruined it.

Even with just MoS, BvS, and SS the Arrowverse and the DCEU were already pretty incompatible.
Now if given the choice, I would have gladly taken Arrowverse movies over the DCEU we got.

So I watched it again last night, I don't mind if we never get the Snyder cut, but please somebody pay Zimmer or Junkie XL whatever amount of money to rescore this.

Danny Elfman is bad and he should feel bad. :p

My biggest gripe with the movie as screened (would have liked to have seen the full Snyder movie but that’s likely out of the question). Never been a fan of Elfman and found his bat-theme particularly out of place in this “universe”.

:D

My biggest gripe with the movie is its last act. Once Superman was resurrected, the movie felt rushed and filled with Whedon-style humor that seemed more lame than usual. Actually, the movie reminded me of the last act for "Age of Ultron".

Elfman's score sucked.

If they're going to tease the Williams Superman theme, why not use it? Seems that Cavill's Superman has grown into a character that deserves it now.

I love that even Snyder thinks the Superman CGI month looks terrible!

They should have made Cavill wear a fake beard while playing Superman in JL, he was already rocking a real beard in MoS anyway. Seeing bearded Superman would have been so much better than CGI monster mouth.
