Just Some 3D Experiments

I came across this sketch of what looked like a more mass-production version of the TAS Bonaventure in another thread here and had to see what it would look like in 3D.

It's quirky and sweet and clunky, if there's ever a starship that I just would like to cuddle then it's the Bonadventure. :mallory:
There's a wicked good 3D model in the TOS forum of it somewhere. :D

A while ago (before real life got in the way) I had also started work on the TAS version. Eventually, I want to print both versions to display them side-by-side,

I can easily see the belly tank for deuterium…quick disconnect early, before the tech became trustworthy.

The near Refit-era “Grey Lady” had Mon Cal’ type torpedo blisters of similar shape to either side of the neck dorsal.

That could allow a lower mounted saucer, with a field coil going where the Refit torpedo bay usually is located.

Secondary hulls often are more simply shaped than saucers, so this extra complexity is appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

The most annoying part about modeling for 3D printing is that after a while, the progress you see becomes quite slow, since you're modeling stuff twice, the visible parts and the cutting objects to hollow out bits so the electronics can be added later. You can see the red stuff in the last screenshot.
You first model the parts separately, then hollow them and turn the separated elements into model kit parts, including alignment pins, internal ribs to avoid twisting and so on...
