so I just saw my first deep space nine epsiode ever, WOW it was pretty sweet, I liked it a lot better then the preimer of TNG. Looking forward to watching the rest of the seasons.

Sorry, a friend of mine gave me the first 3 seasons, so I started with episode one and am moving up the chain. It is pretty sweet having never seen them before.
Enjoy the trip. Its def the best Trek and one of the best sci-fi ever.

What I wouldn't give to be able to watch this series as new again. You're one lucky SOB.
I'm sure your friend has already told you, but the show takes some time to get going, but once it does you're in for one hell of a ride. Easily my favourite Trek series.
I recently started watching DS9 from the beginning for the first time as well (prior to that I'd seen a handful of episodes on TV that I can't really remember), just started working my way through S3. I personally thought S1/S2 were kinda dull in places, there's lots of episodes that seemed to conform to the same formula of a "TNG-but-on-a-space-station" A plot and an "alien of the week visits ds9; alien of the week makes some kind of trade with Quark; Odo arrests alien of the week for some reason, sometimes related to the A plot" B plot and sometimes a C plot about something totally unrelated to the other two. They're still a good watch though, and there's some outstanding stuff buried in there, far better than S1/S2 of TNG were relative to the rest of the seasons.

alas, I have been watching it all day and night for the last 2 days, however I have 3 seasons to watch, so I am saved, for the moment atleast, from the horror of running out of episodes. I am only 3 discs into season one, but so far I haven't found an episode I didn't like, which is more then i can say for tng first season. I am quickly starting to like ds9 at least as much as tng if not a small tad bit more.
Enjoy. Even the "uneventful" episodes I love because I like the settings and characters. I mean just watching it makes me feel like I'm on that station. The sound of the dabo wheel is very comforting!

There are TNG moments that are still special to me, but DS9... DS9 rocks!
I've been watching DS9 (first time) via Netflix. Just got the last disc in today.
I had a similar feeling. DS9 really hits the ground running. I didn't mind the TNG-esque transition, as I am a TNG fan also.
So this is it. In about an hour and a half I'll be popping in the season finale.
It was...fun.

Me too, and I just finished the series. Of course, my next Netflix was VOY S1, Disc 1, which I also have never watched save for a few eps here and there.

Coincidentally, I caught TOS RM "Operation:Annihilate!" the other night (thank you Netflix instant view), and I don't think I ever caught that episode before.
One thing I will warn the OP about: BEWARE OF THE SEASON DOCUMENTARIES as they sometimes will flash forward. In particular beware of S5 I think it was, which has footage of S7 in it that quite pissed me off at the time.
