Just saw Christmas stuff in stores - September 16!!

There are adverts on the radio here about booking Christmas parties - they started last week I think.

Quit enabling me, you lush!

It's what I do! :D
This year, I'm making sugar free eggnog, and adding a little rum.

My store sells PUMPKIN eggnog around Christmas time.

Why not for Halloween?

Yeah it seems like things get earlier and earlier. After the 4th of July it's back to school and now we're seeing Christmas stuff. I guess people just want to rush through getting this year over. Not only that, but department stores need this time of year as it's when they make the most of their money.

I don't want the Christmas season to come so fast. I absolutely love the television specials that air around Thanksgiving, especially the stuff on "History".

Log me in under the "who cares?" section. Though I look forward to Trekker's annual thread complaining about nonstop Christmas music and the valiant struggle of non-Christians against Christmas carols and other such holiday-related miscellany.

Well, we just got done with 9/11 Season. Christmas season comes next.

Sorry Jews.

:guffaw:

I am glad that I haven't set foot in Costco or other big stores this month.

I tells ya, this business of the Christmas stuff coming out earlier and earlier, I cant stands it!

Heck I've already bought mine!

I snapped up and wrapped my first, and only thus far, Christmas present in July! I could not those Steelers purses at Wal-Mart get away without one of them going to my cousin.

Hallmark already has this year's ornaments out. They were out in August.

They went old school with the Trek collection. We've got the Romulan Warbird. For Star Wars fans, there's Slave 1.

And there's a Tron Legacy Lightcycle.

I saw Christmas stuff in the shops today - Christmas biscuits. Yesterday I was lounging in the warm waters of the scalding south Mediterranean. Today I'm looking at Christmas biscuits in the rainy UK. It's a harsh world. :guffaw:

Growing up in the '80s, I seem to remember seeing Halloween displays and then Thanksgiving displays, and the Christmas displays didn't get put out until after Thanksgiving was over. I haven't seen any Thanksgiving decorations in well over a decade. :(

It's getting earlier! Not trees or decorations yet but the candy and gift sets are out.

Probably left overs from last year.

Food Retail has efectively 3 seasons Christmas, Easter and Summer. You might start to see the first Easter Lines out on sale just after Christmas Day.

I don't have a problem with Christmas stuff being out now. I've been looking for a few odds and ends for fall decorations and I've taken a look at the Christmas stuff in stores as well. It's kind of nice actually, because the stores and parking lots aren't insane and I don't feel like I'm going to have a panic attack just going to the mall. Plus it's not all picked over.

I don't want to see it as the main display or hear Christmas music yet, but I honestly don't even have a problem with a year-round Christmas section off in a corner of the store or something.
