Let me rephrase, then. Why not go ahead with something animated now? Synergy. Cross-platform promotion. Make $!!

I don't get it. We get CLONE WARS but no Trek. It can be glorious.

Well, the thing about The Clone Wars is that Lucas is so rich that he could just go ahead and make the show on spec, then sell it to a network as a fait accompli. I gather that they had some trouble finding a network that would buy it even so. For a Trek animated series, they'd first have to get a network on board, willing to help pay for the production. So that's more of a hurdle to overcome.

I must be wrong, or they'd be a-doin' it, right. Oh well.

Well, I gather that the plan is to leave ST in the hands of Abrams & co. for now, to wait until another movie or two gets made before bringing ST back to television. Although I'm not sure why they think that's necessary. As stated above, lots of movie franchises do animated tie-ins.
