Just purchased the 2009 remasterd TOS DVD's

I've just purchased the remasterd TOS. Overall it's great, the've cleaned up the films and added bits like phaser fire, buildings and made the Enterprise look like its just had a paint job.

The extras are good as well, there are the normal interviews, making of stuff etc but also which pleased me was that there is an animated episode 'More Tribbles, More Troubles', now I have to confess that this is the first time that I have ever scene any of the animated programmes! Also included is the DS9 episode 'Trials and Tribulations', which is one of my favourite DS9 ep.

They have also put 'The Cage' in the set but strangely on the disc in Season 3, why they did I don't know? But they put the unaired pilot (bw & col mix) and the aired version of the cage.

I know that there are probably the purists who don't like remastered films but I have to that this set is well worth it, even the embossed tin holders each tin coloured differently to represent the three main uniforms.

I got that set for myself for Christmas last year, and I LOVE it. Doomsday Machine is one of the best episodes, too. No model on a thread or ugly Machine. :bolian:

You're in for a great time! :vulcan:

I agree, with what I've seen so far it's great far better than ToS that I remember when when I was a kid. Surprisingly my wife is enjoying them too, she is a great fan of TNG. One thing I find striking is the colour and yes I agree the Doomsday Machine is an excellent piece of remastered work:techman:

A friend of mine told me he believed the remastered work put the effects in the set finally on the same level as the writing from the series. When I saw a great sequence like the battle scene in "The Ultimate Computer,' I savored it and then went over it again. I just can't say how much fun that set is. :bolian:

Something to think about as we get close to Christmas, I reckon...:vulcan:

i'm gonna hunt for all 3 remastered seasons tomorrow while I'm christmas shop. I want these so bad.

Go for it, worth every penny/cent, we got ours through the net. One of the other things I love is the colour, it is much sharper than when first released on VHS. Even the stories that I'm not so keen on are more appealing.

i picked them up today, all 3 seasons. I've only watched "Where No Man has gone before" so far. But I was blown away by the improved picture quality and effects. Loved the new shots of the Enterprise flying through the Barrier.
