Just had my first real work out.

Just did my first real workout, well, ever. Well, really since high school gym. One hour full of machines, reps, and talking with a trainer. Good times, and my body is beginning to revolt against me.

It actually wasn't too bad all things considered the reps on the various machines, mostly working on my arms and knees, didn't being to feel things until the early teens of the 20-rep set, and about 30 minutes total on the elliptical machine. Dammit, I'm going to get myself into shape!

Just wait until tomorrow. Or the day after that. You'll be begging for death. :p

But seriously, well done. First step into a much healthier world.

Grats even though I'm a tiny bit shocked that people are talking about work-outs on a Star Trek forum.

What happened to all the self-respecting Trek nerds? :(

*giggle*

Oh, believe me, I've no self-respect. In fact I hate myself with a passion. I'm an asshole, I'm a geek, and I'm a chicken-shit who can't do a simple thing like ask a girl out.

But I do realize I need to be healthier and lose weight.

Good work. Keep it up.

I should really get into shape myself. I just haven't got a gym membership yet. Having little physical strength gets depressing sometimes.

Geeks are hawt, though!

I gotta admit being a girl is pretty nice and slack.
You don't have to do all the "work" of actually asking guys out. Instead it's the guys who have to come with original pick-up lines and all that stuff which sounds like a major pain.

Personally, I just do a lot of calisthenics. And by "a lot," I mean I engage in them in a desultory and disorganized fashion. But I think I could pass an Army physical test, if I could finish the run without my lungs jumping out of my throat in protest.

Oh, you're gonna hurt--a lot. At least, if you actually did any good, you should really feel it within the next day or so. But it will get better as you keep with it.

Well it sucks being the one who has to do all of the "work" when you've no idea how to do it or no confidence to do it.

Wasn't there some scene with Riker and Guinan practicing flirting? Just quote Star Trek, that will certainly either make the girl run away or she'll love you for it. Would work with me at least. :p

Ok... did I really just suggest quoting Star Trek as a pick-up line? Geeks rule the world these days. :p

This lady needs a medal for honesty.

Through super-science and arcane knowledge, I've estimated that I would be 52% happier if I'd been born a woman.

I've came to a similar conclusion.

Thanks, I'll take cookies.

There's always surgery!
If it were "Profit and Lace" easy, I think I'd try it out of curiosity. If I could go back in time, and use white dwarf star shrinking powers to finagle my father's goo-dads, I'd try it for the hell of it.

The exchange wouldn't be worth it with the time, money, pain, and complications inherent in the procedure as it stands now. I am also little interested in being a lesbian, and even less so in being a straight chick. I doubt I'm pretty or feminine enough for it, as well. And at this point in my life it wouldn't solve any of the underlying issues, anyway, which aren't strictly gendered.

Nope, I'm stuck as straight white male. PITY ME!

Eh, it's expensive and I doubt I'd make an attractive enough female to gain any meaningful benefit.

(You ruined the punchline. :p )

In all seriousness, I doubt "jealousy" would be a good enough reason for a doctor to give us the procedure anyway.

It's also entirely possible I grossly underestimate the problems of being a woman. I hear they're quite legion.

52% happier
- 9% happiness for lower income
- 13% constant harassment
- 30% cramps....

Are you sure you've thought this through?

Anyway, nice job on the workout. As others have said, you're going to be in some pain over the next two to three days, but what others haven't said yet is how quickly you're likely to improve. You'll likely see a big difference in your endurance levels on day 6 or 7 as compared to day 1 -- so even if it's hard this week, stick with it!

I question your numbers. They seem convenient. :shifty:

I always imagined I'd like the constant harassment...
