Just got this message when i tried to log on to LJ.
LiveJournal.com is currently unavailable due to emergency maintenance. Don't worry, this has nothing to do with our recent company layoffs! It's a technical problem, not a lack-of-personnel problem. Thank you for your patience.

I find it strange that a company would talk about its lay offs do you think it is just maintenance or do you think there a stressed out LJ worker who is trying to do the job of about 4 people and added the lay off message and is soon to join his/her work mates in the dole queue.

Friend of mine and I were just commenting on this. We speculate someone got laid off and left LJ a surprise.

Maybe LJ users heard about the layoffs and were freaking out? And were e-mailing the site like crazy or something.

Considering that they laid off all the software engineers and product managers, I'm not surprised at all. This kind of thing will likely become more common as time passes.
