Just need to finish reading my jeremy clarkson book, then it's on to this?

Is it a good read or will I be dissapointed?

There may not be enough ill-thought, poorly-considered, ranting clat-trap in the book if you're used to Jeremy Clarkson

We need Captain Archer to blow cigarette smoke into an immigrants face while in an indoor public place because he mentioned the enviroment to bring it up to that standard.

I really liked the book myself. IMO it does a good job of making up for the mistakes made in These Are the Voyages, and it also does some pretty cool stuff setting up for the upcoming Romulan War.

I've heard some people on here complain about the direction that Trip was taken in the books, but I really have no problem with it myself.

:guffaw:

I really like this book it fixes the mistakes in the finale and there'a alot of really suprising twists and turns this story takes. Kobayashi Maru is also a great folllow up to this book.

It depends.

You will be disappointed it you await the same quality Mangels and Martin delivered with most of their non-Enterprise stuff, but in contrast to the worst novel of the last decade or so (the TGTMD follow-up Kobayashi Maru) it's decent.

I think that'll be my next pitch...

Most seem to have liked it, but I'm amongst those who didn't care for it. Mostly because the plot approached the absurd, but also I found the tone disrespectful of the source material and the characters bland and irritating.

Fictitiously yours, Trent Roman

Wow -- that's a little harsh. While Kobayashi Maru isn't up to TGTMD in quality it's still excellent imo. If the rest of the Enterprise "relaunch" holds the same quality as Kobayashi Maru, I will be very pleased.

The 'TATV - mocking' itself makes this book worth reading. Making Trip a Section 31 spy does seem a bit of a stretch, but it was (and should have been even more) interesting to see the Romulans from his perspective.

There are some really good moments, like Elizabeth's funeral, and the whole 'Shran goes on a rampage' scene (that was awesome IMO).

A lot of crappy TATV scenes were rewritten in a way that they actually started to make sense, like that Archer/T'pol conversation in Trip's quarters, and of course, the whole 'Trip kills himself' nonsense.

TGTMD had flaws (just like every single Season 4 ep FTM), but nevertheless, it was exceptionally fun to read.

I have agree with Trent here. I thought the whole scenario was too over the top for my taste. It often seemed forced and rediculous. I generally love Martin and Mangels books but this is probably my least favorite of their Star Trek entries.

And my two cents is: I agree that the scenario was a lot over-the-top however, that exaggerated, complicated over-the-topness was executed quite well and made it a worthwhile read and kept me interested in continuing this series.

I'm with Trent, I couldn't take any of it seriously.
Any of it? You people all complain about some absurdities in the plot, and that's OK, but not one of you has bothered to be precise. Use spoiler boxes, and bash away, I'm eager to hear what exactly sucked so hard.

I'm sorry, you must have confused me with your dog, because I sure as fuck don't answer to "you people".

I didn't know dogs count as people, but if I've somehow offended you, please accept my apologies, I really meant no offense.
