I was wondering if someone was going to do something with the Big E from WW2.

Just a suggestion...
You have the carrier and the frigate in the same frame. What if you put the starship in the same frame with those two a la Tomorrow is Yesterday???

That was something I considered, but--for some odd reason that I can no longer recall--dropped. If I have time I may take a shot at it again.

Thanks for the feedback!

Within the limits of the time you have left, it feels like it needs to be more inclusive of other Enterprises (Enterprii?). Which ones depends what kinds of pics you can find in the next few days.

I agree with you there. I've been seeing how to at least fit the Space Shuttle into the picture.

For this version I added a few more Enterprises: The Space Shuttle, The Goodyear Blimp, the French frigate L'Enterprize, which is the first known ship of the name, and CVN-65.

Nice idea! :techman:

It looks good as it is, but I'd be tempted to go b/w with the whole image.

argh! now i have "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" stuck in my head for some reason...

Ok, I couldn't resist a last minute tweaking. I added the above mentioned HMS Enterprise (Not sure I got the scale quite right compared to the CV-6, but it looks good enough) and went with greyscale for the whole thing, since most of the images are from B&W pictures.

Hey, that looks great. :D I wonder if CV-06 and HMS Enterprise (D52) ever had a meetup in WW-2.

BliyahoQeoni - This is a good start here. I am a little concerned about it looking "cluttered" (for lack of a better word).

The worst part is, after I saw the first picture, I was going to suggest adding a little known Enterprise! You (or someone else) had mentioned that you were looking for a link between the naval versions of the Enterprise and the Star Trek Enterprise. I know of one that might have fit in perfectly - the USS Enterprise from the Civil War era. I didn't know about this one until I visited the College of William & Mary in Wilamsburg and saw a historical marker for it. This Enterprise was a test ship to determine if lighter than air vessels were useful to Generals for observing battles and being able to adjust more quickly to the changing battlefield. While that USS Enterprise was lost in either the First or Second Battle of Bull Run (I forget which), the idea was a success and prompted the building of more observation balloons.

I am not aware of any pictures of this Enterprise (although any era airship would probably do). But at the same time, at this point you have so many that it is beginning to look cluttered. Perhaps only using ones that have historical value - L'Enterprise (the first recorded Enterprise), USS Enterprise (CV-06 and the most decorated vessel in WWII, IIRC), USS Enterprise (CVN 65 - the first nuclear carrier), USS Enterprise (OV-101 - the first Space Shuttle), and then NCC-1701. A bit heavy on the USS E's, but not sure what to do about that. Additionally, it is still cluttered, even with just these!!!:p

I look for3ward to future iterations on this one. The only other suggestion might be to change the format from landdscape to portrait and make the available viewing area larger so that you can fit the ships in or not have as many ships.

Just my $0.02. Great effort though - I love seeing the visual history of this ship! Just shows she had great lines even in the Age of Sail. :techman:

Yeah, I was a little concerned about the cluttered look myself, but rather like the image of so many ships together. And I hesitated to add the D52 for this very reason, but thought I should have at least one HMS Enterprise (L'Enterprize was captured and became the HMS Enterprise, but I didn't think that was enough). This is the final version for this contest, but I will likely keep working on it, or at least working on other versions of the same concept.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words! I had a lot of fun working on this!
