June 2012 Challenge - Meet the Neighbors

Sorry for the delay - here is my idea for the June contest.

Every relationship starts with a first contact - some of Star Trek's most enduring stories are built around the first encounters between various species, for good or ill. So for the June 2012 challenge, your challenge is to write a story detailing the very first contact between two races in the Trek universe.

Any species is fair game, any time frame, as long as your story is set within the Trek universe. Pretty simple, right?

Now how about a few guidelines:

* 10,000 word limit, more or less.
* No crossovers
* Contest closes 6/30

*waves hello* Actually I'm amazed it's not just one. *L* My usual sad routine is to read the monthly challenge, come up with the best idea ever, fart around, second guess myself, fart around some more and oh hey wasn't the deadline yesterday?

So I'm really pleased I actually got it written and it bears at least a passing resemblance to what popped up in my head.

Yep... real life and writers' block got in the way again. Two good entries this month tho!

Thanks. And yeah that real life is a mother. I can only imagine the kind of iron discipline our Pro Trek Writers must have to manage to do that and hold down a "real" job too.
