Contest: ENTER July-August Challenge "Lies! All Lies!"

Sadly, there were no entries in the May-June challenge so it was decided that the co-winner of the last challenge gets to pick a new theme. Here's @TheLoneRedshirt 's challenge:
The July/August challenge is to write a story involving deception on the part of a character. Any Star Trek era, canon or your own set of characters. No word limit, but let's avoid novellas if possible.

The deadline is August 30, 11 pm CET

I've never had any ideas for writing in one of these challenges. I hope my fellow writers here can forgive me for that. :)

Hello. I have a few questions about the writing challenges and contests:

How involved should a story follow the designated theme? Should the theme be the central focus of the story or could it play just a minor part?

How and where does one submit an entry? Can you submit more than one?

Does an entry have to be a new story or can it be a previously written story?

Are there any other common rules, requirements or guidelines aside from the standard ones for fan fiction?

That's pretty much up to you. At the end of the challenge, other forum members will vote on the entries and they will decide how well your story fits the challenge theme.

Post your story on this (Fan-fic) forum and identify it as a challenge entry for July-August. Then, post a link to your story on this thread.
Generally, there's a limit of one entry per contributor, but I'll defer to Count Zero on that one.

Does an entry have to be a new story or can it be a previously written story?

New is nice, but if you have a previously written story that fits the theme, that's perfectly acceptable for this challenge.

Are there any other common rules, requirements or guidelines aside from the standard ones for fan fiction?

Other than the few mentioned at the top of the thread, not really. I do ask that you keep it within the Star Trek family, but any era, series, or your own characters, are fine.

It's limited to one entry per person but if you have a story that you don't want to enter but like to promote because it fits the theme you can link to it in this thread as well.
