The winner of the last challenge, @ColdFusion180, asked me to create the new challenge thread.

The writing challenge theme is: Contest. Any Star Trek series, era, canon, non-canon, ships, crews or characters welcome.

I'm on vacation from August 31 to September 11 so I'll set the deadline a bit earlier than I normally would, at August 26.

Okay, so since I didn't use it, here are the other ideas I'd thought of:

1) A Starfleet salvage derby - basically, ships compete against each other to salvage junked ship parts, shuttles, etc, in a pre-determined area. Perhaps originating as part of an effort to clean up a junky area of space. Hero ship would've been the Magpie.

2) A dead alien captain's friend must contest the leadership/ownership of his starship, which the captain wanted him to have, but which is about to pass to someone else. (more vague than the former idea)
