Jonathan Frakes on Criminal Minds

It's more about the criminals getting their "just desserts." I love cop shows, but not because of the sickening acts the criminals commit, just that they get caught and having justice served.
And I like a good action movie/Walker, Texas Ranger ep. I get that instinct, I really do. But are there any limits? Crime has been going down for generations, but TV crime keeps getting grislier and more twisted; I don't know if crime programming on the whole is on the rise, but it's certainly everywhere. At what point do we say that this prurient lust for violence goes beyond harmless entertainment and starts to cause real harm by eroding our actual faith in each other?

these sort of shows are too played out imo.

Criminal minds, CSI, NCIS, ABCD etc.

you notice they all recycle ideas too, all of them have a "saw" episode, all of them have a "freeway killer" episode, all of them have an "MMORPG Killer" episode.

they are out of ideas.

Here's a new one for them, free of charge: a serial killer gets fed up with all the sick, fantastical and utterly unrealistic violence on TV, so he decides to murder network executives in the same farcically creative/painful ways as freeway/MMORPG/online dating/etc. victims get killed on their shows. The (fictional, mind) suits who get rich exploiting society's fears and bloodlusts get to see their own (fictional, mind) children maimed and traumatized.

Have they all done and recycled that one?

That is far too creative a plot for them to come up with.

Early warning that we're all about to become ancient and justified:

Next year will be the 25th-anniversary of TNG.
Yikes!

Hey, i'm 43 and damned proud, I put kids half my age to shame. I can't belive it's been that long though, 25 years.... what happened.

I'm sorry if this was mentioned already.
Frakes was on a new episode of Criminal Minds last night and I hardly recognized him until he spoke. Wasn't make up or anything, just he aged.

I know everyone ages, but wow!

When did this air and on what network?

And by posting it here, that's a story idea, and thus pretty much guarantees the shows WON'T do it, right?

The episode originally aired January 13th on CBS. I saw it on March 13th on A&E. It'll probably rerun again on A&E, if you want to see it. Jonathan was only on-screen for five minutes.

Wasn't he also on a recent episode of NCIS: Los Angeles? And didn't he play a doctor in that one too? Hmm. Wonder what it is about Frakes that make casting directors think he'd be believable as a doctor. Must be his height.

I saw the last half of the episode when it aired on A&E and I was excited to see Frakes as a villain ... I thought he played a great twisted creep! He gave me the chills as Reid was figuring out he gave his daughter electro-shock therapy after raping her.

Then again, I liked his character on TNG too even though he gets bashed a lot on these forums so maybe I'm not the best judge! lol.
