And I like a good action movie/Walker, Texas Ranger ep. I get that instinct, I really do. But are there any limits? Crime has been going down for generations, but TV crime keeps getting grislier and more twisted; I don't know if crime programming on the whole is on the rise, but it's certainly everywhere. At what point do we say that this prurient lust for violence goes beyond harmless entertainment and starts to cause real harm by eroding our actual faith in each other? It's more about the criminals getting their "just desserts." I love cop shows, but not because of the sickening acts the criminals commit, just that they get caught and having justice served.
