Joker Origin Story Announced

If you made the claim, it is on you to back it up.

I did. They both portrayed mentally handicapped people except Phoenix went for half measures like losing weight and something banal like laughing at random but otherwise just acting antisocial and awkward compared to Travolta going more accurate with how someone would act with those mental issues.

The director of Endgame on The Joker:

I loved it. I thought it was a beautiful piece of filmmaking. It was a very tragic, very modern story and really representative of existential isolation and the crisis a lot of people are feeling. The moment in it when he's on the talk show, where it's the idea of everyone in the world right now grabbing their megaphones and trying to shout each other down, and he's reacting against that. It's certainly a dark movie and a disturbing movie with a very important message to it. We're ecstatic that it's being recognized. It broke through the stigma that seems to be against these films, certainly at the Academy.

So, even someone from the MCU is not going to make the hollow claim that an MCU film was the breakthrough that "allowed" Joker to earn the praise and awards it has--or Oscar nominations. He lives in reality. Some of his film's fans do not.

Nah, he's just being diplomatic. He saw what happened to David Ayer.

I see that you really had no answer for this at all.

The answer is that he's being diplomatic to a movie that did well and got attention, because he saw what happened when David Ayer did his "F*** MARVEL!" thing before Suicide Squad. He couldn't be honest with something closer to "It's an okay movie, even if it's INO and really just a Taxi Driver wannabe."

So now you're calling people liars? Joker really has gotten in your head. :guffaw:

I'm calling him diplomatic.

You're calling him a liar. Because you're saying that he isn't really speaking what he thinks.

At least own up to it.

Also, if you read what he said there's nothing "diplomatic" about his remarks regarding either Cameron or The Joker - the guy goes on at length and in detail about his admiration in both cases. No one who's paid attention to how people behave in situations where they're being diplomatic would try to pass off that kind of rationalization.

The problem here is simply that our friend doesn't like what he's reading.

It was right up there with Nolan saying he wanted his movies to be like the Singer X-Men movies when he was really just looking for free publicity.

So you got no counter. As usual.

No one who's paid attention to how people behave in situations where they're being diplomatic would try to pass off that kind of rationalization.

He's being throughly diplomatic.
