"John Carter of Mars" Moving Ahead!

@Timothy just because it is a Disney film doesn't mean it is going to have a toy line. Again as I said I've not seen any thing about a line from any of the previews I've seen online regarding film toy tie-ins coming out this year. This isn't surprising. There were genre films without a toy line last year as well. Like "X-Men: First Class" for instance, which was disappointing to me.
i haven't seen or read anything about a toyline either. i'd love to have a Tars Tarkas action figure but it doesn't seem to be in the cards at this point.

I did see on Amazon that Stuart Moore is writing the novelization which includes the original text (which is pretty cool) and they're doing some kind of coffee table book tie-in. The score is slated to be released of course, as far as other merch I've not seen anything.

By original text, do you mean the original "A Princess of Mars" novel?

You really haven't read "A Princess of Mars" unless you've read it in the original Barsoomian.

I just started reading this book; I'd been only marginally aware of the existence of this series before the trailers started showing up. I'm digging it, and I hope the movie is fun.

From the trailer, shouldn't Dejah Thoris's skin have been, you know, "Redder?"

I remember from the novel series repeated references to her skin color.

Redder and more of it; this is going to be a mass-audience friendly version.

If they're including the original novel along with the novelization, kudos to them; it's hard to get kids to read something that old and that's a good way to bring it to them.

Now the trick is getting them to read at all....

For Lynn Collins to have a British accent for no good reason is going to constantly call attention to itself.

How do you know British accents don't sound exactly like Martian accents? :p

Well, it works if she's suppossed to be from around Cydonia. But the folks from OIlympus mons have more a an upper mid-west Fargo sort of thing, doncha know. :)

And the ones from Helium have a high pitched accent.

Clothing is pretty much frowned upon on Barsoom in all the books, as I recall.

And since the movie has too much Plot (And too high a Budget) to go for an X Rating, they kinda gotta put some clothes on them, despite it going against Canon
