John Billingsley in 2012

Just wondering how many people have seen 2012 and noticed John Billingsley in the movie. I thought he was effective and he had one of the better parts in the film. Made me think of Enterprise and the good Doctor. Always thought he was one of the better actors and I enjoyed Phlox a lot.

I bet he'll have a bit of extra spending money as the holidays approach.

I was so tickled to see him in 2012! He gave me something to smile about for the right reasons (as opposed to laughing at how bad the "plot" was otherwise).

Yah, the movie was more an event than something really enjoyable. Billingsley was one of the good points.

Something to look forward to when I eventually catch this.

It's great to see actors from ENT popping up in some recent high profile projects.

His role was quite background but in during the ark bridge scenes, they kept showing him looking shocked, it was a generally badly directed scene and there was no need for the lingering shots of him going O:

It was certainly a pleasant little surprise. John turned in his usual solid performance.

I went to see this film today and couldn't help but smile when I saw him pop up on the screen; like HopefulRomantic I think he's a strong actor.

I was surprised he didn't die. He seems to die in just about everything he appears in.

Just saw the movie today. My wife and I recognized the good doctor immediately. And I just got her watching Enterprise recently - we finished season 3, which I had her start with, and are into the Vulcan arc in S4.

What was funny for me was seeing certain mannerism and speech patterns that I associate solely with Phlox coming from another character. It's like, when you only or primarily know an actor in one role, you think the way they talk, act, behave, etc. to be that character. It feels funny to see some of the same things coming from someone not that character.

I thought it was interesting how another Trek alum, Brent Spiner, also had the similar role of "the scientist" in another Emmerich doomsday film, "Independence Day".

Glad John's working again. He's too talented to stay dormant for long. Thanks for the heads up, I'm gonna catch the movie.

I saw the flick. Put Billingsley in anything, and he's great. :techman: I perked up every time he was onscreen.

Other than that and a few of the CG shots, it was just another Emmerich Disaster-O-Rama for me. When the
handsome Russian pilot crash-landed the plane and it stopped juuuuust before going over the cliff, I said to my husband, "Oh please, don't have him smile in relief, and then the plane goes off the cliff." And then the guy smiled in relief, and the plane went off the cliff.
Thank you, Roland! Thankyouverramuch!

I need to check out "True Blood." I liked Billingsley's little turn in "Angel."

I saw 2012 yesterday... I can't find words to describe how bad it was.
God I feel sorry for John Cusack, he deserves better than to be reduced to this.

Just saw John in Scrubs, 2012, a Stargate episode, True Blood, and an episode of Criminal Minds this month. He's in everything I watch lately.

I just finished the first season of True Blood, and I was surprised to realize that he played the coroner. I guess since the majority of my exposure to John's work has been on Enterprise, I'm not used to seeing him without his Phlox makeup.

Now that I think about it, John appeared in two episodes of NYPD Blue as the shady (and very twitchy) "gypsy cab" driver Ryan Lipe. There was a great scene between him and Dennis Franz, where Sipowicz keeps calling him by his last name to try and get under his skin during an interview.

He's really versatile, which bodes well for him continuing to get lots of work now and in the future.

Now that I think about it, the first time I saw him in anything was an Ashley Judd film....one of those James Patterson novels....I think....I'm not sure. The plot had something to do with US special forces in Central America and Judd's playing the wife of one of the guys. If I remember correctly, Billingsly played an agent/contact who approached Judd in a store. Vague recollection of the plot.

I'm rambling along, kinda like 2012......
