Huh. They call it a "serious" neck injury, though I'm not sure what other kind of neck injury there is, but his Glasgow concert has been postponed with the new date being this Tuesday. So, is it not that serious?! I'm confused.

Have they ruled that out? Clerks specifically stated that this could happen, and even worse.
With neck surgery, especially if the person is having trouble doing harsh things like talking or moving the way Barrowman was reported to having problems with (meaning it's a tad severe), quick surgery to fix the issue is critical, followed by convalescence takes four to six WEEKS before even limited activities are allowed.
Returning in one week? Seems unlikely. Especially if it's the anterior side and not cervical in front.

Poor man! I have chronic neck problems; they are pretty minor but the pain is certainly NOT. I wish him a speedy recovery.
He could get a easy job while he recuperates down at his local outdoor market selling fruit and veg, you know, a Barrowman.
